Walgett Reserve
Walgett Reserve also known as the Walgett Primitive Campground is a free 2day camp offered by the quiet town of Walgett. There is a lovely local gentlemen that rocks up and checks you in by signing a form with your name, phone and number of I'll people camping and how long you would be staying. It would be because of Covid precautions. The ground is a semi gravel dirt area, there are some soft parts so better be careful if you are a heavy vehicle and stick to the gravel part otherwise the ground is hard enough when it rains for lighter vehicles. It has a flushing toilet block with a.men, women and disabled cubicle. There are several covered seating areas with a table and benches. An electric BBQ but it doesn't seem to be working. A potable water faucet next to the covered seats and a bore water faucet as well however it doesn't seem to have a knob. There are designated camping spots with wooden log barriers. The camp has several vintage farm vehicles displayed throughout the park and commemorative plaques for several well known locals of the town. The camp Kasi has Covid precaution sheets posted on the seating areas and a QR code in the toilet area. The campground is right across a park with a little pond with a fountain that is high pressured so on a hot day you can get a must of water on your face depending where the wind blows which was a great way to cool down. It is surrounded by grass and trees and quite a number of very healthy ducks. There are also a handful of black birds climbing and playing on the trees like monkeys. There are bench chairs scattered near the pond. Come prepared with a mozzie spray because unfortunately there are quite a few mozzies residing in the area. Generators allowed. All on all the Walgett Primitive Campground is a great overnight or two spot to see the richly historic town of Walgett. Thank you to the amazing Walgett Locals who have opened up their beautiful town for us travellers and experience Walgett hospitality.

Great little free camp with toilets and a flat gravelled area to stop. Not to noisy. Close to walk into town (about a kilometre) with a few other places to walk around. Jimmy Littles grave (country music singer) is in the cemetery over the road. Town is good for a walk with a hot bore bath at the other end of town.
