It's not that bad, but in my school many people got sick and had covid because of this. The cabins were very dirty but the bed were good and the bathroom as well. I got to say that our bathroom had no glass wall to shower and had no locks to lock the door! Everyone needs privacy you know? But anyway, the food wasn't that bad but it was terribly disgusting I got to say. Please make your food better or hire a better chef! AND YOUR WATER!! The activties weren't that bad though.

Great experience from booking through to post visit! Highly recommend the place for any type of trip. The customer service is great, food fantastic for camp food ( salad selection like nothing we have received else where) and the choice of activities was great. The Cabins were all very clean and warm.Yes the water is slightly different(not City water) but very safe to drink and lots of filtered water units throughout the site.Everyone had a great time and shared great stories since their return. Thanks PGL Campaspe downs

Parent helper review: a mum’s perspective.Camp was great. Courtney was an absolute dream. She was just so easy going and chill. The kids really responded well to her kind and happy, but organised, nature.I LOVED that no one was forced to do anything they were scared to do. There was no shaming or negative comments for people not doing an activity. Just loads of praise for giving something a go. We had an instructor who talked about her own fears during leap of faith. And it was so lovely for the kids to hear an adult talk about being afraid of heights. She talked about how many times she couldn’t even get past the ladder. This meant a lot to the kids. I wish I could remember her name. But she was wearing socks with donuts on them if that helps! The food servers were lovely and really great with the kids, big smiles and encouraging them to try food. The food was great. Plenty of it. Loads of fruit and veg. Many kids had never had an old school baked potato (mine included). And they just loved it!A special shout out to the cleaning and maint staff. The toilet roll holder in my cabin fell apart (not a big deal, I didn’t even mention it). But the staff noticed it and fixed it before I got back in the evening. Everything was clean and tidy in the rooms. No cobwebs. Very clean bathrooms.I noted in prev reviews comments about the cleanliness of the cups. They are clear plastic. So they are scratched. But not dirty. They were washed in a dishwasher. So very clean.Beds were really comfy. I slept really well(when the kids finally settled haha).Water: yes. It is awful. It tastes like chalk. The kids just we not drinking enough water and neither was I. We ended up buying bulk water from town and filling the kids water bottles with this water. So I would take this into consideration if you are going during warmer weather. But it is perfectly safe, and it is drinkable water so this is not a negative. Just something to note if your kids are used to “Melbourne water”.There is not shade everywhere. So bring wide brimmed hats. Not caps. The kids will get sunburnt without sunscreen and proper hats.Consider evening activities carefully. The kids love evening activities where they can be their own bosses. They loved the passport hunt (bring torches). And I think they would have loved a disco on the second night. They didn’t love doing relay races on the second evening. This is an activity that could be done at school. So I would just ditch this and stick with fun evening activities that do not require kids to sit around waiting turns. My only negative would be that this camp has very limited opportunities for people with disabilities. This is disappointing. The disabled kids basically just had to tag along. I think this could be overcome by having kid led mini activities at each site. This would also give the other kids something to do while they waited for their turn.I would encourage PGL to hire a paid inclusion officer. They could reach out to the schools to understand the needs of the disabled students and work towards:1.Plan to ensure inclusivity2.Help kids with extra information so they feel comfortable ahead of time. Ie kids with asd and anxiety need may need to watch videos in advance. A disability officer would know exactly how to manage this.Overall it was a great experience and the kids loved it.

We really enjoyed our Year 4 camp at Campaspe Downs. Everything was well organised, and the staff went beyond my expectations to make our stay comfortable and engaging. Regardless of the weather, there was a great variety of activities for students to do that were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our cabins were clean and warm, though some were due to be refreshed, they were all fit for purpose. In the dining room, there was a good range of food options and all dietary requirements were met. The morning and afternoon tea each day was a treat, and there was so much food that we didn’t need a supper option. The hot breakfast each morning was a nice surprise that I had not had on previous school camps. Campaspe Down’s spacious grounds were well maintained and well utilised. There were a number of other schools there at the same time and it was easy to imagine we had the whole camp to ourselves as there was very little cross over between groups. Students were excited to see kangaroos lounging in the morning sun on our last day and were sad the camp had come to an end. I look forward to the opportunity to attend another camp at Campaspe Downs in the future.

Went on year 12 camp last week, and the place overall was good!Food definitely needs to be worked on as many of my peers , including myself, barely ate any of the main meals expect the morning and afternoon tea snacks.Activities were definitely not made for year 12 students, therefore not to fault the camp site, however my friends and I had a very enjoyable time.Kitchen staff were quite rude in the way they approached certain situations, but campsite activity staff were very caring, nice and made the time enjoyable. Thanks you Abby, Shelby and Owen- who is from another PGL camp location.Overall, the place was good. Cabins were alright, but the communal toilets were much better. Food definitely needs working on. We would recommend sticking with very basic foods, as they are harder to mess up and would appeal to many peoples taste buds. Wouldn’t recommend taking any students above the age of 15 to this camp site, as many of my peer didn’t enjoy themselves and many activities where not designed for older students. Activity staff were very nice, however kitchen staff must be re-trained.

I had such low expectations for this place but it turned out to be really good. I read the reviews and I was so disgusted I even didn’t want to go but I ended up enjoying it a lot. The positives were the activities, they were really fun. Especially the flying fox and teamwork activities. The food was decent and seemed fresh. The breakfast and lunches were good. We had cereal, toast, sausages, fruit, scrambled eggs and hash browns. The pasta was a little undercooked but wasn’t that bad and the second night we had snitzel which I didn’t eat, instead I had salad and roast potatoes which was yum. Now the negatives. The cabins walls are pretty thin and my cabins door was missing so my room was now connected to the other room so we didn’t really have much privacy with our own friends. The door to the toilet in the cabin was rusty. I got locked in and my friend had to bust the door open which was pretty scary. The cabins do not have soap to wash your hands and to have a shower so bring soap cuz I had to use hand sanitiser the whole time (not in the shower lol) BUT BRING YOUR OWN WATER THE WATER THEY PROVIDE AIN’T YUMMY DARLING. OH AND I LIKED THE DESSERTS AND AFTERNOON TEA’S, THEY WERE PRETTY SLAY UWUUUWUWU. Hehe btw I just came back. I highly recommend unless you’re a fussy eater and a conditioned person .

As a year 12 student who recently stayed at the camp for three days, I must say that the experience was nothing short of disappointing and an embarrassment to the standards that the establishment claims to uphold. The presence of numerous health hazards was simply unacceptable. The food served was of a questionable quality, with instances of bugs found in the salads and undercooked, often dry meals. Instead of the staff members wanting to resolve the issue, they make up excuses to cover up their mistakes by saying phrases like Sorry the doors were open." The lack of attention to detail and disregard for proper food preparation standards was unacceptable and had multiple students feeling sick. The unitises was never cleaned at all

PLEASE READ!!!!So i just came back from this camp and all of these reviews are so dramatic. The camp was one of the best camps ever! The people there are soooo nice and respectful, the cabins are really nice and nothing wrong with them, and the food, even though its not the best it is camp after all. The food isnt meant to be sooo perfect. The camp is so beautiful and so fun!!! I loved it so much i wish i could go again! I love seeing the kangaroos so cuteee. I recommend it. :)
