Probably my all time favourite photo stop, nearly every car I've owned in the last decade has been snapped there and also very interesting place to stop and look around.

What an amazing sidebar to a great day in Maldon. To see the old rusted machinery and imagine it operating back in the day, incessantly dragging at the earth and loading it for processing. Paper cuts and screen glare at work today? Glad we have more work options these days. Highly recommend a stop here and a walk around.Gum Tree Hollow. What a cool little roadside stand, just up the road from the Dredge. Had a stunning alternative Christmas display, metal figures and an interesting take on an angel. When was the last time you saw an angel in a bowler hat? It looked casual but there must have been a lot of effort gone into it to make it look so coordinated. Thanks to whoever put it together. Photos don't do it justice, well worth stopping and getting out of the car.

The ‘Porcupine Flat Gold dredge and dragline’ has always been a good stop just out of Malden to see the Mining History in the area. As the Historians in Malden will tell you, ‘Mr Heywood worked from the late 1950’s until the early 1980’s, and the ‘bucket dredges’ were used up until the late 1970’s’.Lovely to see the old machines, but best not to drink the water!

Interesting large drag line type shovel machine which looks to be at least 60-70 years old.Full access to look around and inside if you dare to climb up to the inside of the machine. They did it tough in the early industrial revolution and their skills to make such a machine are remarkable.

More history you have to explore and it’s right beside the road so easy walk. But you have to check it out.
