Green Arrow

Path isn't great but still a nice walk

Awesome walk. We we clockwise so it was harder at the beginning and then an easy walk. Magic scenery and walking in the clouds

Winding challenge to the top of Mt Whitfield from the south side. Awesome views before you get in the canopy. Plenty of switchbacks.

Great views

The green arrow hiking trail is definitely a hiking trail. It is at it is advertised, steep with lots of tree roots and steps. It doesn’t have as many steps as the red arrow. The bush is beautiful if you take the time to stop and look around, which we did while trying to get our breath back. Just a word of warning; the signs say it is 3km long which it is. But once you get to the end you are on top of a mountain at an elevation of 364 metres. So you then either have to turn around and walk the 3 kms back to the start or you join the blue arrow for 2kms and then the red arrow for about 1.5kms. It is also 900m from your car to the beginning of the track and that 900m is up. This walk took us 4 hours. A tough walk but worth it.

Cairns Regional Council have done a stellar job of opening the Green Arrow, the newest contribution to the Mount Whitfield walking track network. You can take your dog up the first bit, but after the flat on top (Southern end) you have to turn around. This is one of the best views in town. Having a bad day? Green Arrow. Having a good day? Green arrow to Red and make a better day of it!

You need Goot stamina to finish this circuit, but it totally worth it. You have a beautiful sightseeing to freshwater and the city

Great walk.Moderate to good fitness required.This track has stairs and the rest is natural terrain with many tree roots.Some older steps require maintenance ao please step carefully.Can be slightly slippery in the wet.Conscious foot falls required at times.There is a little hut for a rest stop about half way and one or two bench seats for a breatherAllow 2 - 3 hours depending on fitness.
