O'Gorman solid plastering

We have called on Joe of O'Gormans Solid Plastering for plastering repairs for the fussiest of clients with a historic home in Melbourne and others. Our clients feed back was over the top, extremely pleased with the outcome and noted was his promptness to meetings and repair work. We have had the pleasure of using Joe at our personal home and found him to be extremely knowledgeable of his craft and a pleasure to work with. There is no job or problem to big nor too small for him. Your home becomes his as he finely crafts your walls for himself first and you second - a truism for one who owns their craft to the fullest. He comes with a great sense of humour and stands behind his word and work... a rarity these days. Simply, he is probably one of the best plasters I have seen in 30 years whilst in the construction industry project management and design!

Joe has made our dreams come true! He is immensely skilled in traditional plastering methods, working carefully, caringly and confidently to restore our Victorian terrace in Carlton. 19th Century Victorian ceiling restoration.It was a pleasure to commission Joe to replace a damaged gutter cornice and replace a large ceiling rose.Joe was punctual, professional and a perfectionist when it comes to solid plastering. Joe had a tight deadline and worked half the weekend to honor it, he’s very polite and likes to engage you in the stages of his work which instills confidence when restoring a 140 year old Victorian.Joe cleaned up after each days work and was very affordable.I would highly recommend Joe for any hard plastering work.Excellent work Joe,Cheers, Kim & Mark Womersley

Everything about Joe is First Class! His work is impeccable and his attitude is excellent. His plaster work on our 1901 home is amazing - our cornices, walls and ceilings look fantastic. Joe's piece de resistance was restoring the ornate ceiling in one of our rooms - amongst other things, one of the decorative friezes had fallen off. Joe made a cast from one of the remaining ones and then rebuild a replacement one in situ. I wish I could clone him to do every trade I ever need.

Ground movement over some years has caused some major cracks in the internal walls of our Victorian home. Joe, unlike other plasterers who had come to look at our problem, was not at all fazed by it. He explained that he would use an angle grinder to insert 1 metre steel rods to brace the walls and spread the load, followed by a fine mesh under the rendering and plastering.His thirty years’ experience in solid plastering first obtained in his native Ireland, as well as his meticulous work ethic, meant that he was a sight to behold, transforming our sorry mess back to its original splendour. His repairs are not merely superficial and we are confident that the house will retain its new lease of life for decades to come.Joe is a true artisan and takes such pride in his work that he did not hesitate to put in the extra mile if that is what is required to obtain a perfect result.He is extremely professional, courteous, skilled, reliable and trustworthy. He has a warm and friendly manner and it was a pleasure to have him around the house. What a joy it was to see Joe work his magic on the damaged, broken and missing pieces of plasterwork on the façade of our 130 year-old home.He carefully and expertly rebuilt features back to their original form using traditional techniques and natural materials.A skilled craftsman, he is also approachable, patient, consultative and friendly. We highly recommend Joe O’Gorman for solid plastering and restoration/ repair of heritage buildings. Joe repaired external render on our 1886 Victorian house. He was able to repair some damage to large walls whereas other plasterers told us we needed to replace render to the whole wall. He has the skills and training in traditional techniques we were looking for. Nothing was too much trouble and he is extremely tidy and polite and helpful.We would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him.

Joe did such a wonderful job at our house. He made the cracked walls and ceilings of our old Victorian home look like new again! We can't believe how smooth they are now. Joe is one of the best in the business.We recently had the front of our house re-rendered (a 1940’s Art Deco brick veneer home) and he took time and care to explain the process to us and did an excellent job.In addition he is also a very lovely and friendly chap!If you want a job done well, Joe is your man!

Joe has done a fantastic job with our ceiling. Other people we called wanted to pull the whole ceiling down. Joe was the only person prepared to repair it. He was on time, cleaned up after himself and spent a good amount of time covering our surfaces with dropsheets to minimize dust. I was very impressed. I can’t recommend Joe highly enough.
