A very pleasant spot in natural tree surrounds. Ideal starting spot to walk to Mt Mathieson and continue on the heritage trail. Around 3 hrs with a road walk back to camp. The track is easily found , slashed where needed at the moment. A delightful walk.Long drop toilet and tap nearby. BYO own firepit and wood.Camping is set up mainly for cars and tents behind bollards. Green grass! There are no actual camp sites for campertrailers or caravans although you can park in a few places just to the side of the circuit road, towards the back. The road is 2wd atm in dry weather . Red dirt mainly.Beware of the cunning kookaburras. They most aggressive I've seen and felt!

A nice but basic campground. You are pretty out of town so it was relaxed and secluded. There are two ways to get to the campground . One way is ONLY for 4WD’s and the other is for both conventional and 4WD. However, it seems after all the recent rain that the road has gotten a bit sketchy (6km or so of winding, hilly unsealed road) and so I wouldn’t recommend certain 2WD cars to go there (mostly just lowered cars and hatchbacks) until the road has had some TLC.There is a beautiful walk up to governors chair lookout which was fantastic. No one else there and a perfect spot to birdwatch (heaps of birds!).Ammenities were just a simple (but looked after) compost toilet block.
