Sky House

No internet, no air conditioning. It's a lovely house with beautiful view and it might be a good winter hideaway. But I will never come back during summer for sure.

The Good:View from the deck and bedrooms was amazing in fine weather. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms were nice.The Bad:NO AIR CONDITIONING! NO CEILING FANS! BRING YOUR OWN FAN! We sweltered through the first day, and mistakenly left the windows open in the bedroom to let fresh air in - Eaten half to death by mosquitoes! Had to drive in to Oxenford to buy pedestal fans the next day. The second and third days it was overcast and storming so the temperature was more bearable, although the rooms were still hot during the night, as they had to be sealed shut due to mozzies.The furniture is mostly outdated and worn, in some cases not even the furniture pictured on their website - certainly not in the condition you would expect for the price..The deck was small, tiny even given the standard of house. The deck furniture didn't even have cushions - lucky we brought our own chairs.The BBQ was so rusted it was unusable. We had to cook all our meat inside.There are no speakers for music at all.The TV is a flat-screen, but a dinosaur - it's on a beautiful little half wall above the fireplace, and it's dwarfed by the surrounds - it may have been 42 or something where you would expect to see 60"+The house is not private. We have stayed in many houses of this type and they're usually sparsely set in the mountains with no neighbours as far as you can see - the neighbours at Sky House are right there on all sides - had to keep noise to a minimum.Summary:In the cooler months this place would be pretty good as the temperature and bugs would be at a minimum. In response to previous review:The furniture is art deco and does not age.The house is an eco home designed by Anthill Constructions based in HK. There is no need for AC. Carefully placed louvres on the roof control the inflow of cool mountain air. Hand held levers are available to control the airflow. There is no need to open the the windows.The tv is 42 inch LCD with a special cover to reduce reflection during daytime viewing.The pictures available on this sight and with the Mt Tamborine Visitor Centre (taken by them) reflects the magnificence of the property.There are cushions for the outside furniture.The BBQ is replaced yearly.The previous reviewer's inflammatory opinion and comments have been reported to Google.

Fantastic location, all of the facilities you expect, pet friendly, amazing views over the Gold Coast and the perfect place to take your family or get together with friends.

Sky House Tamborine is absolutely beautiful. The views amazing and the house gorgeous. I could stay here forever!

We were a group of 6 adults looking for a special long weekend away without the kids. Although the price was extensively more than our next preference, Sky House was our house of choice due to the excellent reviews and property editorial. We were VERY disappointed, from the dated and dirty décor & mismatched furnishings to the PLASTIC wine glasses (quality glassware??) & NO champagne glasses. No sunloungers on the deck! (actually no furniture really...plastic table and a packed up outdoor setting), 'Private NO Entry' sign to the advertised 'gardens'. I note that the reviews (bar 1) are ALL from 2013 and beyond. The price does NOT depict the quality of this home. Yes, the views are great....but its not all about the view.
