Lovely beach for rock fishing.Caught breams and taylor.However, dogs aren't allowed.Fine sand. No public toilet nearby.

Beautiful beach. Nice soft and hard sand. Close to Newcastle. 4WD required. Beautiful place close to Sydney for 4WD. Day pass required.

One of the few places you can still drive and camp on the beach close to Sydney. The beach itself is 5 star. Downside is it’s packed on long weekends for the same reason. There are zero ammenities and no rubbish bins. Also they have recently stopped access to the majority driving on the dunes. I have towed a van onto the beach but would not recommend it to stock vehicles as it can get very soft. If you have to go try mid week as it’s not so crowded. It is a little pricey for the beach pass and be careful buying the annual pass as it expires the same time every year regardless of when you purchased it.

Great place to take the 4wd on the sand and stop for a bbq. Not too far from Sydney either. Would suggest you bring your own compressor as often the petrol station closest to the beach has a broken compressor and the one further south frequently has a long queue for it especially on sunny public holidays/weekends

Great beach, I used to live in blackies and the beach access for 4wd has changed a lot. Still very good just limited compared to old times. Very clean. Been down twice recently it's a good day out.

Nice location for fishing...but make sure you have licence as it is regularly checked here. These photos were taken on strong day. Very cold and windy but still marvelous views.

Great for a day out of beach driving. The beach is vast and there is always free space to pull up and make a day of it.Make sure you go on low tide though and drop those tire pressures. Do not attempt in anything less than a 4x4 or AWD.9 mile is notorious for having extremely soft sand so it wouldn't hurt to take some recovery gear or recovery boards either just in case you get stuck. The beach UHF channel is 21.Rangers patrol the beach so ensure you are doing the 30km speed limit as they have radar guns and will fine you for speeding.
