Great photo ops. Beautiful landscaping. Well groomed premises. Plenty of benches for resting. Lots of parking. Restrooms were clean. Safe place to take the family for a museum and scenic photographing afternoon. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely place to sit and chill on a sunny day!! I sat for hours recharging here after arriving into Sydney and admiring the wonderful views - wish I had come at sunset!

So stunning. It’s an amazing spot for any occasion; visiting, picnic, date night, etc. It is the best spot to take photos of both the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. On the left hand side you can see back to the city and it’s beautiful.

A beautiful area, worth a visit just for the views.Mrs Macquarie actually has two chairs now. There is a large chair with a plaque carved above it. This is not the original chair. It is a modern one that has been put there for tourists to sit on, to take group photos, and to protect the original chair from damage. The original chair is further around to the left when looking at the modern chair. It is small and only seats one person. The area is free to visit. It is fully accessible for people with a disability to see the chair.

Breath taking view of clear blue ocean and Opera House, Sydney Bridge and Tower in a single horizon. Best place to take pics with such world famous landmarks as backdrop. Spend good time with near n dear ones on the bank.

Go to the Westpac Open Air Cinema as a yearly ritual. It never disappoints. It was sunny and beautiful on the day I went. However, in previous year I have gone when it’s been raining and it is still just as fabulous. The Sydney harbour back drop is just something else.

The place you have to visit. It has the perfect view of the bridge and the opera house. ideal to go on a walk or bring your picnic, read or meditate. There is a small take away cafe around . Consider that it closes with the sunset.

The chair was carved out of a sandstone rock ledge by convicts in 1810. Specially commissioned by Governor Macquarie for his wife Elizabeth who was known to love the area this is one of the best vantage points to view the sights of Sydney Harbour.

Mrs Macquarie's Chair
One of the best vantage points of Sydney but busier at sunset. Be prepared for a 1km walk to get there through the Botanical gardens or from St Mary's cathedral. Tourist buses can make it a bit hectic at times now that tourism is back on. Please read the history of the place, and namesake for added poignancy (Brontë and Austen fans especially) and appreciation. (Clue: There is a chair to which a road was built).
