There is currently a fire ban on the island however gas cooktops are permitted. (11/12/2020)With close proximity to the Tangalooma wrecks, this is the perfect location for visitors walking off the MICAT ferry as the site does not allow car camping here.Amenities include running water (must boil before drinking), long drop toilets and outdoor showers. The site also features green ants which are far from dangerous but correct footwear may save you some discomfort, mosquitos feeding at dusk and dawn along with domestic and marsh flies.Although the camp sites are sand, I would suggest bringing an air matress. There aren't any suitable places to hang a hammock.

Make sure you take the Micat over. The camp ground is very close to the drop off point. This was an amazing place to camp. If you just want to hang out at the rocks, you don't need a car.

Awesome campsite right opposite the main attraction on the island (the wrecks). Wake up and walk 20m to some of the best snorkeling in QLD.

Had an outstanding long weekend camping here. Usually not this effusive but our trip here was honestly one of the best short vacations of my life. Between the sunsets, the stars, hearing the ocean's waves all night, seeing starfish, and chilling on the beach drinking all day who could complain? Even the ferry ride over was enjoyable, we saw jellyfish and dolphins! And the sand was slightly phosphorescent at night which was really cool.Snorkeling in the shipwrecks was particularly amazing. Could barely move without swimming into fish! We just grabbed the gear from the hut on the beach, wasn't any issue. Also walked down to the resort the first night for the wild dolphin feeding which was definitely worthwhile.Only complaint would be that fires aren't allowed. But some other group did have their car catch on fire about 20 minutes after we arrived... was an exciting start to the trip. Photos of the excitement included. Wasn't too crowded by the way, and everyone around was super friendly. Will try to be back soon to 'Escape The Fake'! (That's the island's slogan)

Beach showers, hybrid toilets, untreated water, rubbish bins and 21 well spaced and maintained camp sites. Toilets have lighting at night. Very popular so felt quite safe. 150m from where the ferry drops off. Really close to the beach & weeks so perfect spot.

Great place. Loved the snorkelling. Campsite so close to the wrecks. Just hop of barge and walk to campsite which is all in walking distance.

A nice campground to stay there for 1-2 nights if you don't have a car.+10m to go from the ferry+The wracks just in front+Toilets and showers are clean-beach is very crowded during the day-long walk (9km) to the next shop & restaurant

what a place, you want tropical paradise? stay here. Beats any resort, right on the beach, facing the wrecks, mind blowing sunsets, basic compost toilets which do the job, cold shower next to the beach, water tap (although needs purification tablets), nothing but forest behind you

Good camping spot, right behind the Wrecks beach. Ideal for visitors walking off the MICAT ferry. Camping spots have a beach sand surface, so be sure to pack your sand pegs. Most spots do not have car access, requiring you to carry all your camping equipment a short distance.Amenities have running water (advised to boil before drinking), long drop toilets and cold outdoor showers.

I didn't like having to carry in all of the camping gear. Great spot though.
