Whether you had had ballet lessons previously or not, the adults basic ballet classes at the Melbourne Institute of Dance are a joy to attend.Our very talented,patient,teacher Kalman teaches us to immerse ourselves in the magic of music, movement and emotion at an individual pace. Under his expert guidance we learn the basic steps of ballet and gradually build up our strength and fitness. Our technique improves as does our confidence.This coupled with meeting wonderful new people from all walks of life who all have a mutual love of music and ballet, make these classes definitely a 5 star recipe.Thank you Kalman. I attend the adult ballet class at Melbourne Institute of Dance. Kalman is an exceptional instructor. The class members are so fun, friendly and supportive. I was not sure how I would go when I started. I really look forward to each lesson. It's a wonderful dance institute to learn at.

Dance and music are for everyone and at Melbourne Institute of Dance you can enjoy both while learning the discipline of classical ballet. We learn the same steps as the professionals (Oh joy!) while we work to our own individual level. Kalman Warhaft is a patient and kind teacher and he makes every class fun while encouraging us to do our best.

What a superbly executed show! We loved every moment. It was overwhelming to see our girls dancing with such joy and enthusiasm and to see the same devotion in all of the students on stage. The Melbourne Institute of Dance is a warm and welcoming establishment where every student is known, supported, and valued.Kalman is an outstanding artist, dancer and teacher. He has high standards and encourages all students to work to capacity, at the same time understanding the physical limitations of those new to the art. Kalman provides positive feedback and demonstrates genuine interest in each of his students. In addition, the atmosphere is inviting and the students support one another with friendship and a shared passion. I am enjoying the classes more than I thought possible!

Ballet classes at MIOD are so beneficial for your strength, flexibility and agility. Plus Kalman and the other teachers are so brilliant at teaching the classes where we have a lot of fun, while learning the intricacies of beautiful ballet movements. We are so lucky to have this school in Melbourne! Try out a class when the term starts again! You'll love it!

Cannot recommend Melbourne Institute of Dance enough! I was anxious to start adult ballet but quickly felt right at home. The classes are super inclusive and accomodate all levels of ability. Everyone is so lovely and welcoming and Kalman is so patient and supportive, he always brings such fun energy and positivity to his classes. Sign up for a class and give it a go- you seriously won’t regret it! Ballet classes are now my favourite part of the week :)

Kalman is one of the best contemporary dance teachers in Australia. The classes are full of interesting choreography that challenge your spatial awareness and technique without stressing you out. The music choices are beautiful as well. The sessions are just delightful.Dancers attending all the classes across Ballet and Contemporary are kind and friendly. MIoD is a fantastic studio where you feel safe and nurtured by a friendly community.

Classes at the Melbourne Institute of Dance are such a wonderful experience for adults. Not only the ambience of the studio setting with the beautiful music chosen for the classes, but also Kalman and the team of talented and patient professionals. Being a member of the class is so stimulating and such fun but it is also a personal journey - a chance to challenge oneself without feeling the need to be a 'star' or perfect.
