Hidden from the mainstream, this is a hidden gem. Perhaps a little pricey for a Chinese restaurant, you will not be disappointed by an extensive menu which, in addition to traditional fare, includes kangaroo and crocodile. Highly recommended

We had a fantastic meal at New Chinese. We rang ahead to secure a booking as we weren’t sure about density limits due to COVID. We also wanted to let them know in advance that we were coming in with a Seeing Eye Dog, and they secured a quiet table for us in the front corner.The staff were friendly and down to earth. We ordered the Chef’s Recommended stewed pork, Nonya prawns, coconut rice and combination Hokkien Noodles.All of our dishes were incredibly delicious and incorporated high quality ingredients with a focus on flavour.I’ll definitely be back. What a Castlemaine gem!!

While this used to offer excellent meals at a reasonable price, we found it now to be quite dear. Tonight's meal was disappointing. The lemon chicken was stringy and dry with too much batter and a flavourless sauce. The Mongolian beef was tough and swamped in sauce.However, the service is fast and the meal was hot. We hope it improves and returns to its former standard.

Very very helpful and friendly staff. Super cool decor and an aaaaamazing plant in reception. Rather pricey- we haven't eaten the food yet but hopefully its worth it! From the customer service point of view I will certainly be coming back.Edit: the food was spectacular. It was heavenly. Probably the best Chinese I've ever eaten. Only one problem- the portions are reaaally small. Like way smaller than normal. So order more than you think!

It may not be the best Chinese food in Victoria but if you're looking for some great Chinese food that's quick, hot ,great service and very reasonably priced it is hard to go past this restaurant.The Chinese sausage was excellent ,the beef dishes for main course were great and even, given the location, the seafood dishes were fresh and tasty

Authentic old school Chinese Restaurant, decor is delightfully genuine retro. Friendly prompt staff, food was quick and served with nostalgic garnishes that made me smile. Plenty of vego options, and different cuisines, from Thai to Malaysian, even a kids menu with fish and chips for any fussy little eaters :)Went for my husband's 40th birthday, when they found out it was his bday they gave him a box of roses chocolates all wrapped up at the end of the night. It was such a sweet gesture.

Great service, Great food. A little pricy but food was good so didn't mind the cost but for a small town they would prob fill more tables if it wasn't so expensive. Waiters and waitresses were lovely.

Look I had fried rice & combo sweet n sourNormally I wouldn’t, I’m very very particular with food….. don’t bother threw it in the bin & had eggs on toast wasted money & time whatever I ate I’m still trying to pick out the dried stringy whatever it was from my teeth.

We had an absolutely delicious meal with family and friends tonight in house. Very friendly staff and fast service. Would definitely recommend.
