Great location, unfortunately they rely on that too much for their custom. They struggle to nail making coffee, they seem to treat the caution hot" label as a goal to aspire to rather than a mere legal disclaimer which results in milk that will decimate your taste buds faster than a Centurion dealing with a mutinous Legion stationed in Gaul. Which is a shame because they actually serve bear bones coffee which ordinarily in more skilled hands makes a very agreeable cup of java. But it makes money so I doubt they will change."

Worst experience I had! My hubby had eggs benedict on sourdough. The sourdough bread - that's right, it wasn't toasted or buttered, was average tasting. About 1/2 hour later, he had stomach pains for the remainder of the day and felt light headed. I had scrambled eggs. Requested no sourdough. Hubby asked how many eggs were in the scrambled eggs. He was told - 2. He asked for extra egg and was told, it would be an extra $5 for an extra egg. So 3 eggs in scrambled eggs, which was now $20 instead of $15. No offer of anything instead of the sourdough. When delivered to our table, his was placed on the table as eggs benedict and mine was placed on the table as a side of scrambled eggs". Great service, friendly staff, versatile menu, reasonable pricing and delicious food. Any of these items would be a welcome addition the The Bays repertoire, but it instead chooses to be a sad imitation of the coffee club. It does have a great location, but I'll be enjoying that from the other side of the fence from now on, with some fish and chips.

Would not recommend. Horrendous service and wait times for food and coffee was 30minutes + for 2 coffees, a brekky burger and eggs on toast. Food came out 10 minutes apart and came out cold after waiting 30 minutes.

Lovely location. Beef burger was disappointing @$14 bun, patty, lettuce and sauce. Calamari and fish meals were nice but not overwhelming. We will probably go back to fish shop over the road next time.

Have given The Bay the benifit of the doubt 3 times thinking I just had bad luck. However this last time was the last straw.Typical wait time on 1 take away coffee is over 10 minutes which they don't inform you of when you order.The coffee is overly bitter and usually cold or at best lukewarm.and to try to make it seem like they are nice the put a chocolate freckle on top of your coffee however the staff seem to forget about using the tongs that are in the jar and randomly use their hands instead.sorry but I have given you all the chances you get.

Just ordered the NZ Cod with chips and could not be more satisfied! I paid $26 for food and a coffee for lunch and would gladly pay $40, staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Good to find another great spot to bring my dogs. Will definitely be a new regular.

Had another enjoyable visit to The Bay in Sandgate. It's a terrific spot: wonderful view, dog friendly, licensed, QR phone ordering, and lovely staff. The bacon and egg burger was awesome with loads of tasty bacon and the muffin was top quality large baked and fluffy. The place can get busy on a sunny morning but the staff remain friendly and composed, and tables quickly cleared and wiped spotless. Highly recommended.
