We have supported this restaurant ever since it opened & l couldn’t be more disappointed of late. Every time we place a takeaway order there are ALWAYS items missing!! The store has no solution when l call other than to offer free product when l am next in which of course l don’t remember to claim!! Poor service is letting the good food down!!

Dimitri is a great manager and always ensures staff/customers are looked after as a priority. The food is fresh and presented nicely. I highly recommend Hunky Dory South Yarra and look forward to returning.

Good portion size, good salads and yummy fish. We have eaten here a few times and we like it. The service is also good and they are even quick when they are busy. The price fits the quality, so we will visit again.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was served by two young guys who were really kind and helpful. The food here is good and their prices are reasonable. I'm definitely coming back for more :)

Love it! As always, great service and amazing food! Love how we can have fish & brown rice instead of fish & chips for a healthier option. The brown rice is cooked to perfection and the Latino sauce from the flavors of the world" menu is a perfect match! Also love the richness of fresh herbs added to the dish

Have a craving for fish? I did! So since the place is newly reopened I thought I'd give it a try. I had snapper in batter with chips on the side.The waiter brings the fish and chips out to me but called it something other than what I ordered. So he heads back inside and returns a minute later confirming it is my order of fish and chips.The fish was lovely: cooked but not dry and the batter was light. I truly enjoyed it! The chips however, were terrible. They were small, with a strange taste and far too much salt (I could feel my arteries hardening!).Before I had finished my meal I had to get some water (due to the salty chips). I left my knife and fork in an (upside down) V, resting on my plate and the waiter tried to take the plate away. Now; if a customer leaves his or her cutlery in an (upside down) V: it means that they are NOT finished. When they place the cutlery together on the plate: it means they are now finished.Apart from the salty weird tasting chips and a waiter-uneducated in table manners (the lady who took the order at the till was lovely, btw), the fish was good and I may return.

The staff here are beyond amazing; so kind and friendly. True customer service experts. The fish was cooked well, the chips were perfectly crunchy, and our order was packed with care. The online ordering system is super easy, and my fussy four year old LOVES the fish bites because they come with a smile. Cannot recommend this specific Hunky Dory enough!

Visited Hunky Dory with family. Overall, the food is consistent with other branches of Hunky Dory. The atmosphere is good and the decor is minimalistic that suits the vibe of the place.The waitress was really polite and friendly, and welcomed us in the restaurant.I found the brown rice slightly undercooked and reported to the owner as a courtesy. He checked and agreed, and offered a replacement but it wasn't a major problem and I didn't want to waste food for a minor issue.We ordered the grilled fish versions of the Latino, the African and an Old School fish and chips. Fish was cooked well, although the fillet seemed too small.I guess they can increase the size of the fillet and accordingly raise the price. They should also consider reducing the amount of Greek salad and lime that comes with the meal. That way they can keep the margins and the portions balanced.
