Clunes Motel

As previously noted the outside of the motel needs some tlc but the room I stayed in was spotless with a very comfortable bed, comfy pillows and lovely crisp sheets. Quirky bedside lights and really nice toaster and kettle. I've been in much fancier accomodation which still has old plastic and stained kettles so this was one of the first things I noticed. Nice big shower and toilet with everything you need. Good value and I would definitely stay again.

We arrived to check in, owner knew when we where arriving, no one was on the premises! Called the number shown but it was only the motel landline. After waiting 2 hours we went and checked in to a different Motel. Called the following day after receiving an invoice to pay for the cancellation! They said the owner was out shopping when we had arrived to check in! Only upside is I didn't have to pay for the room, after explaining what had happened. The place looks super run down,old,unclean and as described in a previous review something off a horror movie. So happy we stayed elsewhere.

MEEP! MEEP! MEEP! MEEP! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.OMG, this place had to be seen to be believed. It looks as though it hasn't had an minute of maintenance since the day it was built (60s?) and it shows. Undercover parking? That depends on what part of your car you want under cover.The presentation of this property, if you could call it that, was abysmal. Verandah hanging down, repainting long overdue and all in all it just looked dirty and rundown. The smell of cigarette smoke and a couple of scruffy looking barking mutts fenced in right next to one of the rooms was the icing on the cake.I travel a lot and this place is definitely one of the worst I've had the misfortune of booking. It looked so bad that I refused to stay. I was still charged, but it was worth it not to have to endure a night there.When I checked in, the owner told me I'd been 'upgraded' because I'd booked a three night stay! That was most definitely wrong. I had only booked one night when I made the booking over the phone and actually spoke directly to her.Having established that I had in fact only booked for one night, she still offered me the 'upgrade' and I left to go and inspect the room. However, within a minute or two two of leaving the office, an angry stick of a man came rushing out to my car waving a key at me saying I'd been given the wrong room. Despite explaining to him that the lady in the office had offered me an upgrade, he told me, she was wrong". We swapped keys. I was a bit shocked by his attitude

Very basic, bathroom door hardly worked. But allowed dog with us. Certainly quiet location but still less than a 15 min walk from town centre.

Clean, comfortable and cost effective!Slightly dated decor and the garden looks like it's being renovated, but the room itself was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the service warm and welcoming. No smell in the rooms. Couldn't hear the people in rooms either side. The dogs mentioned in another review were just gorgeous, well groomed and obviously loved.The managers (owners?) we're extremely helpful with suggestions for food and things to do locally, extremely knowledgeable about the area.Would definitely recommend for a few nights as a place to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Very convenient location. Nice and quiet at night. Warm room with suffient heating with enough facilities to cater for our quick stay ( microwave kettle tea coffee basic kitchen utensils) very happy with our stay for the price.

Clunes Motel is lovely! The rooms are clean, comfortable and have excellent ventilation. The owners are delightful and their friendly demeanor simply adds to the experience. If you are looking for a comfortable and easy night's stay, this is the place for you.You are so close to the centre of town that you can walk there with ease, with great sights along the way.If we ever return to Clunes we would stay here without hesitation!

As others have mentioned, this motel is an older design, but everything was clean and nice and Kate and Bobby were lovely and VERY helpful. Also the fact that the kitchenette area is well stocked is another bonus! It has not only a fridge, but also microwave, toaster, kettle and dishes, so that makes it so much easier to do some of your own food. I will definitely go back when I travel that way.

Kate will look after you. Place looked a little run down. But rooms are clean and sheets crisp. Heater worked well and water was hot. I can't think of any reason not to stay here.

Very friendly proprietors. Room was clean and cheerful. Fridge, kettle, toaster, mic all adequate. Great vibe! You expect to see Harry Dean Stanton working in the garden and meet Jack Palance coming out of the room next door.
