My experience with Illawarra was terrible. Their advices from their helpline vary tremendously from their actual work process. I called their helpline for advice on green car loan in regards to when I should start applying for the loan, as I had just ordered an electric car in 6 months in advance. They advised that the application was swift and would take a week to process and with a approval lasting for 90 days. Thus, I started the online application 3 months in advance of the arrival of the vehicle and it took them nearly 3 weeks to contact me, and advised that the processing would take 8 weeks to process. Now, I'm unable to use them. I'll advise not to trust their site or helpline advices. If you are still keen on their loan, you should apply at least 4 months in advance or so. Undoubtedly, it gives me the lack of confidence in their work and reliability and makes it very difficult to trust them with my home loan. Yes, they tried to get me to move my home loan after all these dramas.

Only days ago, I removed most of my money to another institution because Illawarra Credit Union charged me a 'dormancy' fee because my sub account hadn't had a contribution or withdrawal for 12 months...no prior information had been given about this and a refund of this amount was refused. I was under the impression that I was saving my money for a 'rainy day'...silly me!!!!!

Liam crowe @ ICU was extremely helpful in securing our first mortgage - no question was too silly or hard and he was very timely in getting back to us despite being super busy. He helped us get a good interest rate and was super helpful. We are so glad we went with Liam at ICU.

If you value the security of your money do not bank with them.My phone was hacked and thousands of dollars in my accounts were cleaned out. As soon as I noticed I tried to get some emergency support but there was no way of speaking to anyone after hours.I tried to resolve the issue the next day however they offered zero sympathy and simply told me I could not get my funds returned.The hackers also tried to clean out my whole life savings from my Westpac account. Westpac put a stop to the fraud immediately before they could access any of my numerous accounts with them. Thank goodness I had recently transferred my life savings to Westpac from ICU as I would have lost EVERYTHING.ICU has absolutely disgraceful security in this day and age !!

Do not get insurance with this company. Cancelled my home and contents last month at the end of my billing cycle still got charged eventually got a full refund.Cancelled my car insurance 22nd last month explained prior error explained I dont want another payment taken Rebecca told me this won't happen not trusting it I called 2 days later to confirm and again told yes its Cancelled only for my money to be taken 2 days ago. I spent 2 phone calls on hold for 23min plus both times before speaking to someone they simply shift the blame to qbe apparently I'm getting a qtr of the money they took back in 6 to 10 days not acceptable at allI was a ICU customer pay me back my money and you chase your supplier for your money. Absolutely disgraceful shifting the blame

This afternoon about 3.30 pm (30/1/23) I rang the 1800 number for assistance with an account I had not operated for many years.EMILY from the Credit Union helped me with all my enquiries AND taught me how to use internet banking. She was absolutely fabulous and a total pleasure to deal with Thank you, Emily. More businesses need people like you. I tried to give feedback after the call but somehow got cut off. I have phoned multiple times for service over the years. Phoenix, Ella, Harley and others (whose names now escape me) have all been outstanding in dealing with my internet, card loss and hacking issues. They are always warm, courteous, patient and absolutely helpful in handling my probably, irritating requests. I wish I could call in to meet and thank each of you, but I feel that I know you anyway. Great Credit Union. Who would bank elsewhere?

Having been with ICU for over 15 years, it is disappointing to see, that in the last 5 years (or more) they have continually withdrawn services from the Illawarra, especially the southern suburbs. Call centre services, branch closures and lending departments have all been stripped to the point of them almost being inoperable - really the service is a joke... I'm bewildered at how they expect to attract new customers to their service. Despite their explanations and excuses, the ICU has become extremely inefficient, compared to other local institutions... Oh and this was all happening before Covid hit.
