Its a transfer station! Great for locals.

Excellently set out transfer station. The staff on site are extremely helpful and organised. Clear directions and easy to find your way around. They deserve a gold medal! They deserve 5 stars. But I'm taking one off due to the following reasons :Having a solid understanding of waste management, it was a disgrace to see so much reusable waste, which required purchasing simply laying around. Given that there is no hard waste collection or roadside recycling in Kuranda it's sad residents are required to pay for this service. Surely they should have at least a few *tip tickets* to compensate for the lack of service?Please don't give these staff a hard time or get annoyed when you have to hand over money, they're just following the rules and doing their job.It would be awesome to see a shop of some sort where *good* recycled material could be stored and made available to the public at no cost, or minimal cost. This would help those who are less privileged and also make a positive impact on the environment. It's not hard to work out that the majority of waste is sold on, likely overseas. Profit is being made. It's not *so green* when you factor in the pollution of transportation etc.I understand there are budget limitations, however I'm still calling out The Council and management on this issue. Do better. Be responsible. Practice what you preach.
