Rosevale Retreat Hotel

Two hours plus to get meals for 8 people. Heated argument from other patrons about not getting meals. Place is untidy glasses for drinks had mold on them! Unorganized kaos best discribes this place.Two large groups made bookings so they should have been prepared for this. Will not return under current management. 75 birthday celebration ruined. Stay clear of this place, food was horrible when it did arrive.Steaks burnt chips stogie.

Well how do you describe this hotel now, I have no words that would describe it now ,this was my favorite hotel, once a month we would travel from the Gold Coast just to have a meal at the Historic Rosevale Retreat Hotel, this place now is a dump and the meals are fit for a dog thats how bad this place has deteriorated since I was last here,its not the same hotel, I can remember on a Sunday you couldnt get near the place it was packed and the atmosphere was great, to day that same atmosphere has gone, the barmen is the cook, I dont know about cleaner as the place looks dirty, he has his bills stretched all over the bar and tells me how bad business is and how bad the locals are because no one goes near the place any more Please Please bring back the old owners, every thing was great ,great food great atmosphere,great service and all the staff were friendly and cheerful once I walked out of the hotel I felt as if I had been to a funeral I was so depressed and even the barman who I understand bought the hotel a little time ago also made me depressed ,so if you want a bad day to go even worse go to see John at the Rosevale Hotel he will really depress you with his problems

We had to wait for well over an hour for our 4 meals. The first to come out were 2 Rump steak, chips and salad meals which were supposed to be medium rare. Both were extremely well done steaks and tough. Both meals had cold to luke warm chips which were showing signs wilting and my mushroom sauce and the other pepper sauces were cold. The tomato on mine was on the verge of being rotten and it took a while to get the unpleasant taste out of my mouth. Another 10 minutes passed before the other meals came out. The lamb shank meal was cold but the chips were warmer this time although not fresh. The other meal was Chicken breast with pesto sauce. The chips were again cold and wilted, the tomato was again verging on rotten, the chicken was extremely dry, tough and probably not fresh. The pesto sauce was cold. Most of the meals were left on the plates. Our only positive from the experience was that the tap beer was cold and the beer garden had a pleasant atmosphere under the the trees. We had hoped for a nice lunch but certainly that did not eventuate and we will never go again.

Different, quite an experience, they need more wine glasses, and to wash them a bit better. Christmas in July meal excellent. Let's face it it would have been a luxury for our ancestors.

We live in Wynnum but the drive to get here is worth it everytime. One of my favorite places for good food and atmosphere. Staff are welcoming and food.....just WOW !

I can't say enough good things about this pub. I absolutely love it. Incredible selection of beers behind the bar as well as the products available in the bottle shop. This might be the oldest pub in Queensland, but the quality of the service is nothing short of what you may possibly find in a big city modern pub. The meals from the menu are a sight to behold. Not only are they fit for a king, but I guarantee you will have a lot of trouble finishing your meal. They are that good and big. I give the meals an 11 out of 10 for quality and quantity. This establishment can probably be described as 'quaint' by hoity toity city type people. But like myself, being an easy going bloke from the country, it can be best described as a 'bloody decent country pub'. If this pub doesn't put a smile on your dial, then I reckon a trip to Disneyland wouldn't do much for you either.
