Long Jetty Pawnbrokers

Avoiding selling my gold to long jetty pawnbrokers earned me over $5,000.Firstly, let me say that this store is fantastic and the stock is always clean, quality, and excellent value. I would continue to shop there and would encourage others to shop there. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way this friendly and professional business is run.The guys who own this store are genuinely very friendly, and took the time with me to test and x-ray my gold cigarette box which I inherited from my holocaust escapee grandparents. I was told by my family the box was solid gold, but always had my suspicions that it was simply gold plated. It had a fake/plastic ruby in the clasp, and I believe someone in the family had removed it and tried to cover their tracks by replacing with a false one. The box had no standard hallmarks, (it had Scandinavian hallmarks, not the usual ones) This is all for background....Anyway, in 2019 I took it to the antique shop across from long jetty pawnbrokers to a place called gumnut antiques. The woman in there wasn't interested in giving me the time of day, and offered me $20 for.it with much sarcasm, stating that as there were no hallmarks,.she wasn't interested (kind of fair enough I suppose, plus I always dress down and present myself as a person with extremely limited means, as I am not interested or concerned with fashion whatsoever. I left a review on or about this date as I was quite upset at the insulting treatment and $20 offer. Screenshot attached (review is still up on Google)I then crossed the road to the pawn brokers, having heard excellent things about them, and for good reason, because they are very professional and friendly. They have lots of stock and everything was very well presented.These guys do actually have the equipment to scratch test and x-ray (?) gold, and I felt so much more welcome than I had across the road. The man took lots of time with me and was extremely patient in scratch testing, weighing, and scanning the box. In fact, he was the one who spotted that the ruby was fake, using his light pulse laser thingy (?) and demonstrated that the laser was accurate by lasering the diamonds in my watch. I was very satisfied with this, as I felt he had done me a very honest service. All in all, I estimate I was in the shop for half an hour, possibly longer, and my experience was wonderful.They offered me $950 for the box, which was a very nice offer after the $20 from Gumnut, but something told me to just hang onto it, which I did for a further 2 years.Cut to December 2021. I submitted the box to Chemgold Refinery Pty Ltd through a private jewellers, expecting to receive a valuation approximate or slightly higher than the long jetty pawnbrokers offer 2 years prior of $950.The valuation returned as 14 carat, 79.14 grams, $6,300 and the refinery purchased and liquidated the gold. Receipts attached.I'm not entirely sure what the price per ounce in gold was at the time I visited long jetty pawnbrokers in 2019, however, I would be surprised and delighted if within 2 years the price of gold had increased by 600%.My advice to people who have genuine gold and valuables, is to avoid long jetty pawnbrokers. If you have every day equipment, bikes and electronics and other items, I am sure you will fare much better.Avoiding long jetty pawnbrokers earned me over $5,000.Please learn from my (near catastrophic) mistakes, and shop at long jetty pawnbrokers for everyday bargains instead.Documents attached.-Receipts from Refinery-Facebook Messenger chats with private jewellers (not associated with long jetty pawnbrokers) including photos of the gold box.I was given a card with a written offer from Long Jetty pawnbrokers, however am unable to find it. Out of all the hock shops on the coast this one is the one to take you're stuff too. Fair pricing always willing to bargain a bit, selling or buying. And they have such a beautiful lady working there. Recommend recommend recomend

Ive dealt with these guys over a number of years . You'd be hard pressed to find nicer people tbh . Knowledgeable and helpful . I miss dealing with them face to face since i moved to Qld . Hope you guys are keeping well.Paul

Absolute champions. Needed to get a loan on a 9ct bracelet due to some on going issues. The guys were able to lend me $400 which helped me out. I got the item out within the month and two months later needed to do the same. I saw the ads for Toukley Loan Office and went over. Well what a mistake that was and one I will never do again. I went back to the Long Jetty Pawn Shop. As soon as I walked in the guy s made me feel welcomed, even asking how things were progressing with my ongoing issues. I asked if I could lend $500; this time. The guys done me a solid and lent me $450. Better than the the $250 that Toukley offered. Two weeks later I was able to collect my bracelet and as a thankyou I purchased a 9ct gold necklace which was 55cm and 54grams. And the guys negotiated a good price with me. I believe that the Long Jetty Pawn Shop are in touch with their communities needs and understand the importance of their service to people. Long Jetty Pawn Shop is more than a business and they show that by the support given.Thanks guys, I appreciate your assistance these past few months.

I have been dealing with longjetty pawn for several months, i first found them through an ebay purchase.I live in Bribane city Qld so its not that there are no pawnshops located in my area.I have purchased a few items and been amazed at the service, ill give you the heads up i have been dealing with a bloke named Joshua and he is bloody unreal.These guys have got it right.good pricing, clean products, great service.Well done longjetty pawn.

Great people friendly helpful very fair in their dealings. Place has a much friendlier atmosphere than the average pawn shop.

Absolutely rubbish service, payed for item including post, delivery date came and still no item.got in touch and was told would be sent Monday. This is 2 weeks later and then they refunded my money after all this and said it was to expensive to post!!! ??? I payed the postal cost advertised and offered more!!!This was a auction that I won on the Ebay website. They do not follow Ebay rules and they will not be getting any more business from me. And hope others will think twice about shopping at this feeble shop.
