I frequently visit Mt Lofty House for a lunch or staycation. AWL is one of my favourite spots in the Adelaide Hills to spend a few hours on the weekend. Lounge is decorated beautifully and has a stunning view of the Piccadilly Valley. Fire place keeps the lounge cozy and they often have marshmallows on stick to add to the experience.Food - Some menu items are great such as the walnut pesto pasta, chicken wings or Moroccan salad with baby chicken. I was very very disappointed with the pastrami sandwich which was mainly just red cabbage, non existent pastrami with bread that was over toasted and it was $25 which is ridiculous considering the item served.Staff - I am rarely ever happy with AWL lounge staff. They aren't usually welcoming or friendly. On my last visit (late afternoon on Sunday 14 July), the bartender seemed agitated and distracted. I mean smile at least when you have guests. In contrast, the rest of the staff at Mt Lofty house is super nice and very welcoming and make the guests feel very very special. That's one of the reasons I still visit Mt Lofty House - the hotel staff is amazing.While Mt Lofty House deserves 5 stars, the Arthur Waterhouse Lounge is disappointing with its food, staff and prices. You don't get what you pay for.

If you get young William behind the bar, you're in for a treat. He knows his stuff and you won't be dissapointed with your beverage!!! Very personable and very knowledgeable. He made a drink at the bar an experience.Dry gin Martini with an extra olive (stirred) for the lady.An old fashion for me!!!!Damn good.

Very disappointing. Wanted to treat my partner to a nice lunch and we were treated very disrespectfully. Unfriendly, poor service that I would not want to experience again. It was our first visit to Mount Lofty House and I won’t be returning.
