I had high expectations for Smith café, new to Napier and enjoying finding new places, the coffee was fabulous, food ok, some amazing - OMG toast is yum. What I was surprised at, and I don't mind paying good money for good food - but the pancakes were $30 for 3 piklet size, soggy with bacon and had to pay extra for maple syrup!! All staff bar 1 were lovely; however one waitress was rude, spoke harshly to one of our group who got mixed up with his order (he has dementia) - I was so shocked. When I went to explain after, she presented as sarcastic and arrogant, the manager stood by and did nothing. Shame.

Had a family brunch here! Everyone was able to find something to enjoy. The Under 5s had fries and sourdough toast.Three vegan options: Fried Rice, Granola, and Coffee Roasted Beetroot with Freekah.I went for the Spinach & Cheese scroll with whipped butter. It was a really delicious bread. I also had the Tan Slice. A super smooth caramel filling and lovely walnut and biscuit topping.Family had multiple coffees and tried the Eggs Benedict with Bacon. It looked good and they scraped the plates clean.

We all loved our brunch, the menu is really interesting. I chose the fried rice, which I thoroughly recommend. Lovely coffee and great service

Great wee food establishment.Friendly staff, good communication from the start regarding waiting times as they were short staffed.Waiting time was very reasonable considering.Beautiful food and very reasonable pricing.Obviously a popular place for dining, and easy to see why.Highly recommend to all.Have posted a couple of snaps, sorry if the names of the dishes are not correct.

We were in Napier for the weekend and this place was recommended to us by our AirBnB hosts. There was a short queue for a table but we waited less than 5 minutes. We were shown to a table and given menus. It was quite busy and you could tell the staff were a bit under the pump but they were still friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and the coffee was pretty good too. If I was in town I would come again.

This could be such a top place for brunch or lunch. Lovely and sunny. The fried rice was really good but was a bit overpowered by the hoisin sauce. The fish was good but oil hadn't been hot enough so batter was very oily. Corn fritters were terrible. Almost no corn and very dense batter. One really lovely waitress but the other was very sour faced and should not work in hospitality. The only time she smiled was when taking our money but even then did not make eye contact. So many places to eat at in Ahiriri so we will not bother returning to this one.

I came in this morning with long life friends who I haven’t seen in years. Unfortunately the food was terrible, and even after telling staff members that we were not happy with our meals, they did not do anything to even resolve the issue and expected me to pay full price, which was not only overpriced, I also left hungry as the portions were very small.I will not be returning, as i left as a disappointed customer.
