We were served by a young and enthusiastic hospitality team when we visited the Axedale Tavern at 105 High St, Axedale. The Tavern has several unique dining spaces both indoor and out however on this coolish night we dined inside. I ordered the flavourful Salt and Peppered Calamari with beer battered chips, salad and garlic aioli. Worth a mention was the salad dressing that took me back in time. I would swear it was the ol’ condensed milk favourite that Aussie mums all over Australia used to make. While you wait for your meal to be cooked you should take the chance to read clever signs on the walls. If you are after a good old-fashioned Pub / Tavern type meal with a friendly atmosphere, and a warm welcome you can’t go wrong here.

Great local tavern! Such friendly and attentive service! Simple yet tasty food. Axedale a few minutes from Bendigo but worth driving to for a real local country hospitality. Can't go wrong with the brisket.

Nice historic pub 15 minutes drive from Bendigo - excellent ‘beer’ garden/ outdoor dining area. Very popular and no wonder, the meals were delicious and well priced; the service spot on!

Nice friendly service. Sliders were very nice, lasagna was on the specials board but took ages for mine to come out and was a bit of a letdown. Completely a one of though, been many times and food is always pretty bloody good..

We were in Axedale for a weekend and decided to eat at the tavern. We had our small dog with us and we were welcome to sit outside in the lovely beer garden. The food was delicious, very generous portions. We enjoying that much we ate here on our second night too instead of cooking!

Highly recommend a drop in and soak up some amazing history.Sadly closed and under renovation when we visited but .....A much loved little pub with magic memories ❤.I grew up in this lovely hotel I was there to help with the original renovations to bring this lovely lady back to former glory probly 30 years ago .

Great pub, excellent food, l had a light meal of calamari salad with a garlic aioli, my partner had the steak sandwich with chips, A1 customer service, spotlessly clean. The Tavern also has live music and a cafe. Highly recommended.

The better half and I went for a drive out to Axedale way to have lunch at the tavern. Had a couple of recommendations and there have been a few good reviews. We ordered the sticky asian pork belly and the salt and pepper calamari. My calamari was nice and the better half loved her meal, I would recommend the pork belly and when we go back I will try something different. 8.5/10
