When it comes to toilets, my approach is generally don’t get excited... that said, this one is the highest in Australia!

Public Toilets
Australia's highest toilet! Open only in the summer months as they are covered in deep snow during winter. Relatively clean and very handy when walking on the top of the world. No running water which makes cleaning hands less than convenient but understandable when the remoteness of these toilets in considered. These are a vast improvement on the portable toilets the rangers used to drag up here for the summer crowds.

Amazing that there are toilets here.Who is the poor person that gets to dig them out of the snow in Spring. They are very dark inside so suggest that you take your phone to use as a flashlight.

Toilets don't usually impress me. They are just needed. This one was needed. It impressed me that it even existed ... out in the middle of nowhere.Very clean and extremely well maintained. This is no 'outback dunny'!

The toilets were not as bad as you would have expected; they were pretty clean, overall. The drop toilet idea is a bit weird, but I guess that's what you get in the National Park.

Great facilities for a national park. Ample toilets even for peak traffic. AED inside for cardiovascular emergencies.

Good spot for a toilet block. Toilets have hand sanitiser instead of water and soap.

The public toilet at Rawson Pass, the highest public toilet in Australia, is a fine facility. There are around 7 composting drop toilets, and a baby change room.Toilet paper is provided, as is alcohol based hand washing gel, but please take note, THERE IS NO WATER. Don't come thinking you can refill your water bottle here at Rawson Pass, no sir. Also at Rawson Pass is the highest bicycle rack in Australia. From Rawson Pass the track divided in three ways, to the south, the steel mesh walking track runs 6.5km, to Thredbo, to the east, the gravel track runs 2km to Seaman's Hut, and 9km to Charlotte Pass, and to the east, the gravel track wraps its way up to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, which looms large over the Rawson Pass public toilet. Also, slightly to the south of the massif of Mt Kosciuszko is the glacial lake, Lake Cootapatamba.Such a lovely and wonderful place, but also, in its beauty, is powerful and dangerous cold. The toilet at Rawson Pass is also approximately 7km from the nearest water tap, electrical wall socket, or any other form of civilization. This is the high country of Australia, and can be an unforgiving place to the unprepared traveller, so please take care. There is also patchy mobile phone coverage at Rawson Pass, but if you climb to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko there is great phone reception there.Enjoy the view, soak in the serenity, live the dream.Due to up to two metres or more of snow building up over the toilet block, the facility here is closed in winter.

I wish there were more toilets and cleaner and less stinky. There are no other toilets on this route at Mount KosciuszkoWhat a wonderful place to be at. I summited Mount Kosciusko in April 2023 and totally loved it. Also we stayed on the mountain for a few days with our guide Mike Edmondson and trust me, he’s the best. Must visit. Totally loved the nature. Don’t miss the snow gum trees. They are unique to that region.
