Dive La Trobe

Great club, very cost effective boat dives, cheap courses for members

I've been part of many student clubs through the years, and I've always had a great experience except for Dive La Trobe. It's a very tight club, very hard to speak to the older members who are interested in chatting and diving only with their friends. Information was scarce and erroneous, even when it was only about offering our help around the dive shed, to the point that volunteering our time became frustrating. Maybe we were seen as outsiders, coming from a different University, but that kind of discrimination should have stopped once we paid the exorbitant membership fees. We've been lied from the beginning and once we've paid our fees, we've been asked to pay more for renting gear and we've never made it on the diving courses they taught in spite of being told we are on the waiting list. There's barely any communication between the club leaders and its members and that bit of communication happens only on FB. So if you're not a FB addict and it happens you can't make it to the shed during opening hours as it happened to us, you'll be left out of the loop with no regrets. This experience taught us that no good can come from a club that is only after your money...

The Dive Latrobe community offers a really supportive environment for new and experienced divers alike. The club has a great social atmosphere and provides a number of dive trips and courses throughout the year. The competitive prices of gear hire and regular day trips made it possible to dive throughout my uni days.

Great club! Very knowledgeable instructors and a sound bunch members.
