Thrifty

I was involved in a car accident with a person driving a hire car from thrifty. It was a tiny accident where I accidentally bumped/touched the rear bumper of their car. There was no visual damage to be seen and I exchanged details with the driver of the vehicle and the driver told me someone from Thrifty would be in contact with me soon because it was a hire car. A few days passed and weeks passed and nothing came to me so I assumed there was no damage and all was good. A month later I receive a legal letter ok behalf of Thrifty saying that I owe them $2,200 for the cost of repairs to their car. In the report their very unclear photo of the car shows no damage but their repairer is charging me thousands of dollars for paint work, rear bumper suspension, days out of business, manual labour calculated daily and so on adding to $2200 for damage that cannot be seen. Thrifty sends me this letter a month later after the incident, from a legal practice, after having already apparently repaired" the vehicle so I can't organise a repairer to see how much it actually costs to repair the whatever damage there was and tell me if I don't pay them within 5 days that they'll take legal action against me. I believe this is a scam that thrifty don't contact me till a whole month after the incident and send a legal letter straight away as point of contact and demand $2200 after having already apparently repaired the car and don't give me any options on any. other quotes to repair the car but just the 1 price which I now have to pay them. Unbelievably disappointing and scamming ethics from this company. If anyone from thrifty wants to speak to me directly on this matter please feel free to do so as I've had no contact from you except for your legal letter demand I pay you $2

Do not believe the “rating” of the “reviews” on Thrifty’s website. Those reviews are emailed in and picked and chosen from. THIS review is unpaid and unsponsored. My partner and I left an item in the car when we dropped it off and only realised it when we got downtown. For the rest of the week (this was Monday and it is now Friday), we called, emailed, and SHOWED UP TO THE BUSINESS to try to reclaim our belongings. We were ignored, lied to, and pointed in other (wrong) directions the whole way. It’s absolutely nonsense and is not the way business should be conducted on a professional level. If you want quality service, DO NOT HIRE THEM. If you want friendly service, DO NOT LOOK HERE. If you want helpful advice, FIND ANOTHER CAR RENTAL. Thrifty is shady, sketchy, and a massive scam.

Why we had to go to the airport to collect a car and pay airport fees when the website said we could go elsewhere to collect same vehicle I am not sure.

If you want to waste many hours over 2 days to try to change your reservation with Thrifty, go for it hard! Unbelievably poor service (not from call centre staff but) from staff at Sydney airport who seem to be unable to answer phone and are too busy to deal with existing clients. If you want a cheaper option, and less stressful, go anywhere else.

I hired out a moving truck for the day From Tony and he was very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately we had someone smack the truck the following day where it was parked and Natalie at Liverpool branch was so lovely, she was very comforting with everything and because I was covered there was no further charges.MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE THE ULTIMATE PROTECTION. Sydney Airport

Twice now there are no cars available. Poor planning when the flight is already late and then you have to wait for your car that you ordered to be ready 30 mins earlier.Everyone is totally pissed off. It happens all the time. Book elsewhere.

The car rental agency has offices at Sydney’s domestic and international airports and it can be less than clear as to where you should check in (non walkable 2 kms apart). On February 19, 2018 when we waited for service at the international airport’s Thrifty desk, we heard a bossy female staff remarking on customer-enquirers, loud and clear, that “your English is very bad!” Although my wife who did the booking requested the GPS device, the extra request remained a request upon checking-in; and there is a need to show not just the international driving licence but also the domestic one that my wife did not bring and so she could only be my navigator using Google Maps GPS!

have kept $200. deposit with no explanation so far... will let you know what happens...IT WAS BANK NOT THRIFTY... THRIFTY HAVE BEEN GREAT, THRIFTY...THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP... AND PATIENTS
