Over the years I've been here with different friends half a dozen times. The food and service have been consistently good so I'm really glad to see it survived the Covid lockdowns of 2020.We arrived before opening time but the lady let us in to have a seat and gave us the menu anyway. My friends wanted Gado Gado with roti instead of rice. Roti costs more which is fine, but this could have been handled a little more gracefully instead of making a big fuss out of it. We also wanted a stir fried dish of okra which is on the dinner menu and they happily accommodated.I was craving for Laksa and my dish was filled to the brim with seafood. Full-bodied flavours, comforting and familiar, this hearty dish never fails to satisfy. My friends enjoyed their Gado Gado, which were enhanced by the Okra with Balachan. The male owner is forever chirpy and sociable with the customers, making the experience enjoyable. With a pleasant ambience, this place is good for a casual meal and revisiting the hawker dishes Malaysia is famous for.

A little place tucked away not far from Camberwell Junction. The staff were lovely and service was attentive. We shared dishes for entree and mains and they were fresh and delicious.

Stumbled across Okra when looking for a place to take a visit friend out for dinner. The decor looks great, when we arrived the place was completely empty and we did have our doubts but by the time we left I'd say it was half full. I had the penang beef which was everything I hoped it would be. Very delicious. My partner had the vegetarian pad Thai and our friend had the lemon grass chicken. Everyone was happy with their main meals. My only complaint for the evening was the vegetarian spring rolls. We ordered 2 serves which was only 4 spring rolls and it cost us over $20. This seemed very expensive and we would not order these again. Whilst they tasted fine, they were just like frozen spring rolls and definitely not worth over $5 each for their size. What made up for this was the tea we ordered. We were blown away with the size of the servings, the teapots and Glassware they were served in which were all unique to each other and the taste and quality of the tea itself was fantastic! I'd come back for the tea alone and would love to try more!

The service was probably the worst I've ever experienced. Communication was woeful. We had to follow up our drinks order 4 times before we finally got them after our mains had arrived. Then we had to follow up 1 entree and main which they'd lost the order for. The food was ok, but small serves, a little bland and overpriced. We'd ordered desserts but it was going to take such a long time that we had to cancel. The staff just seemed to have no idea what they were doing. It was really disappointing.

I have finally found my new favourite restaurant for char kway teow! Located in the heart of camberwell junction, okra restaurant does a fantastic job with their char kway teow, no chinese sausage in sight! On top of that, add some of their home made sambal" for a real kick of heat

In my search for the best Singapore Noodles in Melbourne since the closure of the famous Kun Ming restaurant in China town I tried Okra in the Camberwell Junction. I ordered take-away and was impressed by only waiting for 5 minutes for my noodles. While not a massive serving like some (but big enough) what was lacking in size was compensated by quality. Some large pieces of well cooked chicken, four or so juicy mid-sized prawns plus plenty of shaved carrot, onion, capsicum and egg. The sauce had sufficient spice and curry to make it a very flavourful meal. While not the best SP I've had they were the best I've had in quite a while. My mid score for ambience was due to my ordering take-away.

Currently about to move into a new building which I will definitely try out. Wasn't too impressed with this place it was not clean, the door was locked when we arrived at 5.25pm, I went to the bathroom & the lights upstairs were off. the place felt abandoned. We enjoyed the food, spring rolls curry puffs were tasty, mains beef rendang, beef & cashews steam rice roti & a chilli chicken stir-fry mushroom & broccoli dish all pretty good. We couldn't eat all we felt strangely full very early in, I hope they don't use MSG here? It's BYO wine, by the time we left it was quite busy. Beef rendang was $30 it was quite a small dish for thos price tag we paid $217 for 3 of us. BYO wine

Okra is an institution in Camberwell. This Malaysian Restaurant is trendy, upmarket and authentic. The Sunday hawker lunch is exceptional. It is real soul food. Stand out dishes are the Poh Pia, Yee Tow Mai Fun (fish head noodles) and Yong Tau Fu Laksa. But you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes. Decor is modern, service is efficient and staff are always friendly.
