I had an acrylic canvas painting stretched here, the frame was very well done, very quickly and good quality material used.He ended up charging me less than what he quoted because the job was smaller than he expected. Very good ethics!!Michael and his wife were also very helpful in working out a time with my friend to pick it up for me because I live quite far away.

I have had over 15 paintings streched and or framed with and without glass, by this picture framer over the last 5 years. I am impressed by his can do attitude and nothing is too much trouble for him. His prices are very competitive and the quality of his workmanship is excellent. I have never thought of going anywhere else in 5 years.

Should have listened to the 1st review on professionalism. Came across this website on a Sunday while searching for a frame maker on the Gold Coast. There is a mobile number on the website so I sent a text message with an enquiry. I received a blunt and rude message about not being opened Sundays. No need for that in business, a simple acknowledgement of the text with a please phone Monday - Friday or we will phone you as soon as we are back in the warehouse/office would have sufficed. Poor customer service is the reason I would not choose this business whilst among many other framing stores on the Gold Coast to choose from.

I have been using Mermaid Picture Framing for over 11 years (both before Michael purchased the business a few years ago and since then). I have always found Michael's service to be second to none. Not only does he do a fabulous, professional job with the frames, but he also offers advice when I'm not sure about colour, mounting, frame, etc., and he's never wrong! They always come out perfect! Also, Michael's prices are more than competitive and I would never dream of going anywhere else for my framing.

I have been dealing with Ian, the previous owner of Mermaid Picture Framing for a number of years and when Michael, the current owner bought the business, I continued using his services up until last week. The only reason I used his services all this time is because it was convenient. For the most part I was not happy with his workmanship, attitude and lack of people skills. I found him to be very unpleasant to deal with, he was always miserable, and he never smiled and acted as if he was doing me a favour. For the past four to five years I had given him thousands of dollars worth of work. However, two weeks ago I gave him five large canvases to stretch on a frame that he could see were damaged in transit (although I didn’t notice at first), which in retrospect if he was a decent guy he would of not stretched them in order to save me the $800. He also stretched a smaller painting for me but decided to spray the canvas with water and as a result damaged a $2600 painting which cannot be restored. When he delivered it and I saw it, I said “what’s this?”, he dismissed it and said “it’s just water, it will dry because I do this with all my canvas”. I said that it didn’t look good and I didn’t feel like the water stain would go away. And of course the next day the stain on the canvas remained. I rang Michael on Saturday morning to let him know of the condition of the canvas and asked him to have a look at it to see if he could fix it for me, but he took absolutely no responsibility and said he was busy and made other plans for the day. It goes without saying that I will never ever use Mermaid Picture Framing under Michael’s management ever again.

Got a quote for an oversized poster to be framed. When I returned to get the work done about a month later, the price went from $225 to $350! Reasoning behind this change in price, quote: I don't need the work right now
