Mount Maroon

Challenging walk, not your average walk in the park. 2.5 hours hike up for couch potato, a lot of elevation and steep climb & descent. The view is worth it tho!

An excellent hike with some fun scramble sections. We went up the caves route and down the tourist track, which made for a nice circuit. The views at the top are incredible! Unfortunately clouds were shrouding the peak of Barney, but still beautiful.

Located in Mt Barney. TBH the entrance is very tricky, no signboard, I have to follow the GPS and the volla, it leads me to the entrance. But there will be no signal when you are on your way though.This is not a beginner hike, so it is still manageable. Just you have to follow the direction mark very very well and it is very easy to get lost there, at least I was the one who got lost and spent an hour trying to figure out which is the way. It will be better if you download the trail navigation map in advance.At the end of the part you will need to do some rock climbing but it is just about 45 degrees. Just rmb, follow the navigation mark which is the little arrow stick on the rock. If you are kind of lost, just follow the right side when you are on your way up.A very rewarding hike as the scene is stunning.

What a stunning hike. You'll want a reasonable level of fitness and good knees as it's a lot of stepping up rocks (not a graded path). Really rewarding with 360° views at the top, pack a lunch, lots of water and a beer.

Unreal. 360 views, a stunning hike and just such a beautiful scenery. Hike to the summit is definitely a heart-racer but not too hard if you're fit. Make sure to check the correct starting point. Google maps leads you the wrong way. Allow for an early start.

Relatively challenging hike - quite steep in some parts. About 2hrs up, 1.5hrs back. View absolutely worth it!

Challenging Climb but Worth It!GOOD Shoes/Boots,Water,Snacks & Willingness for a Challenge a must.Cool/Cold Breeze at top (winter).Trail is mainly lose stones/rocks (mind your footing) with some climbing past halfway mark.Take another person is best for difficult parts.ENJOY

Such spectacular views at the top! Fabulous hike. We took a bottle of wine and snacks. Once you’ve accomplished the hike, you really should enjoy the time at the top and take in the view. The chimney is the hardest part of climb, with some upper body strength needed to get up. Otherwise it’s a leg workout with lots of rock scrambling but much of the hike is actually in the shade. Only exposed at the top. Must do!

Amazing place, definitely rates as one of my favorite hikes in south east queensland. I've done both the summit and cave. Spectacular view from the cave and 360° views from the summit. The summit hike is physically hard, a good level of fitness is required and plenty of water in the warmer months. The trail up is steep and rocky with some climbing involved. This is not a walk so don't go expecting an easy walk up the mountain.After speaking with National Parks and Wildlife for further information on camping here, they advised camping is not allowed and they don't really want people doing the cave as its mainly on private property to access it and the land owners don't like people on their property.

Brilliant hiking spot but make sure you get there early because parking is limited.
