Abercrombie Caves and Trunkey Creek are awesome. It is like stepping back in time. The caves are relatively few, but well worth the trip. The camping area is great too. Kangaroos, fire places, beautiful creek. Just be aware that there is no petrol in town.

Good fun day out with the grandchildren. Clean facilities and lots to see. Shame one entrance is out of order but still worth the extra walk.

Nice place to visit. Lots of wildlife, Kangaroos and wombats roam freely. Good walk to the caves from the office. Cable suspension bridge is a treat.

Great cave and a nice walk to get there. The only complaint is the road was very steep and winding.

Awesome place to visit... Never miss a Abercrombie caves if your passing through Bathurst... I didn't know much about the cave but after visiting... Its an memorable experience... full of limestone formation in the cave with good maintenance... I loved the privacy and was shouting screaming around forming echos. My kids and parents enjoyed the place a most. Kangaroos can be seen if you are lucky.. I love to visit with my friends once again to caves ... Its simply WOW...

Abercrombie Caves
A little known gem. For a start there is an amazing Cave (we just did the self-guided tour) - different to Jenolan Caves but with some of the same features and elements. The main chamber is a big long open cave with a river running through it. The stone is limestone that has turned into marble so it is a beautiful white. There is lots of cave crystal and also an enormous number of stromatolites (craybacks). The crystal is not the sparkling kind, as it is exposed to airflow, but some of the formations rival what you see at Jenolan in size. Lighting is pretty basic so take a torch if you want to check everything out. (It's perfectly safely lit to walk around, just not all features are lit.) There are lots of animals: eastern grey kangaroos, wallabies, water dragons, and tons of small birds, which is great to see. The national parks ranger we met was lovely and we had a good chat about the place. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was small and basic but quite comfortable and it was fitted with everything you need to live simply for a day or two. Except remember to bring your own linen! (we didn't, but they will found us some...)
