Melba Restaurant
Amazing lipsmacking food, theres all kind of cuisine available from seafood to vegen to aisan continental, sushi, desserts, Indian buffet, salads, all types of meats and bbq also available, I felt 2 hours time for a seating is less they should extend it to 3 hours, if you're there for an experience 2 hours would be less, but otherwise worth the money for any special occasion, especially when you have an event and want to ensure there's somwthing for everyone to relish.

Now that I’m no longer pregnant I can hit up the cheese station with a vengeance once again. I know most people pay the fairly hefty prices for the unlimited seafood but I implore you don’t miss out on the delicious cheese! Loved the red velvet cake tonight tooLatestI can’t go past the Indian station where you can order a fresh naan with your choice of inclusions. The cheese garlic naan coming hot out of the tandoor oven is a sight (and smell) for sore eyes. Dipped in the delicious ratia I am one happy girl. They even do dessert naans with m&ms but by the time I get to dessert, 7 or so plates later, my stomach sadly isn’t up for more breadNewestWhilst I don’t usually want to fill myself with pasta at a buffet tonight they were doing a creamy prawn pasta made to order and it was such utter perfection I went back for a second bowl. One of my absolute favourite restaurants for getting my glutton onNewerThe noodle dishes available at the wok station tonight were super yummy. The smell of frying garlic was tantalising and the way the sweet soy caramelised in the wok was deliciousness unlike anything I can ever replicate at home. MmmmNewUsually my favourite is the live sushi/sashimi station but todays highlight was the grill as they were doing steak made to order with the yummiest bernaise. Whilst the live cooking stations don’t change they do mix up the dishes so you enjoy even more variety every timeRecentCame to Melba’s for a work lunch which was lovely given you are paying between $85-95 per person depending on the day you dine. Due to the price point it’s probably more of a special occasion place but it's definitely worth it. On this visit I was obsessed with the chocolate pudding and raspberry chocolate mousse slice. It’s always a delicious timeLatestWe visited Melba’s last week for my dads birthday and I have a feeling the chefs have changed as we were really impressed on this occasion. The freshness of the sashimi and the deliciousness of the chocolate passionfruit cheesecake. The other desserts failed to delight which was disappointing for the price point and fell a little short relative to its previous gold standard but overall we were pretty happyFurther updateI have been coming to Melba’s regularly for over ten years. Our visit for my sisters birthday last week however was one of the more disappointing trips. Being around the Christmas period it was completely packed and they attempted to seat us at on a couch style set up.Given its a buffet two three seaters either side of a table is not exactly conducive to constantly getting up and down to replenish your plate. In my family this would mean the poor middle person would be climbing over people are ten minutes. They eventually put some other tables together and found as an alternate which was good. What was not so good was the food. The prawn dumplings were so super stuck together that when I tried to seperate them as I served myself they all fell apart. All of us agreed the food variety wasn’t as impressive as usualUpdateMy dining experience on Wednesday night proved the one critique I had last time has been rectified. In the past the desserts have been visually stunning but lacking in taste. This week we had an exceptionally delicious chocolate and passionfruit eclair and mini lemon meringue pies just to name a few which were super yummy. Well done all for lifting the already superlative standardsOriginal reviewI've probably been here 20 plus times in the last ten or so years. It's pretty much the scene of every family birthday and it never disappoints. It's fairly standard to feel physically unwell for several hours afterward if you chose to dine buffet and have minimal self control like me. Not sure why anyone would actually go here and prefer a la carte as the variety is ridiculous. My only criticism is the desserts leave a little to be desired. This is the one area I have seen deteriorate over the years but they do have a Cadbury chocolate fountain and connoisseur ice cream

We always tend to enjoy ourselves during the breakfast buffet here when we stay at The Langham. There are a good variety of food and drinks available to you. Having that river view helps too. My daughter definitely loves the dessert station. (note this visit was about 6 months ago)

Had my birthday lunch buffet here and loved all my food. The wait staff were super friendly and welcoming.I'd rate most of the food over 7/10. Hidden gems(11/10) were the freshly made garlic naan, sliced Tamago egg, and roasted veggies.

Good selection. Fresh tuna, kingfish, salmon, blood clam ect sashimi. Oysters, prawns, crayfish tails, smoked salmon in seafood selection. Grab freshly char grilled steak or lamb chops . Fresh wok fried selection. Roast lamb, beef, pork and chicken. Antipasto is fresh and tasty. Dessert is nice and there is a choclate fountain. Tea and coffee is included.Service is good

Been coming here for over a decade on special occasions. Quality of food is unmatched for a buffet in Melbourne, plus the views are next level. No need to rush as there is plenty of food including seafood. We came as part of a stay at the Langham, and the service was seamless, for both dinner and breakfast. Only downside for some potentially is the cost - dinner on a weekend isn’t cheap!

Old school classy experience, went with a group, wasn't too bad.Sashimi:Tuna/kingfish/salmon was not too bad, quality was fairly average. Frozen but fresh.Eel was really nice, that in a roll was soo good.Unlimited lobster tails for you lobster lovers, it was really hit and miss. Was a little too dry I think.Oysters were fairly fresh,Heaps of dishes and desserts,Roast lamb was pretty good, pork was crunchy and peaking duck was not too bad.Overall service was great.Would I go again... if it was a invitation 100% but I wouldn't go out of my way to spend that kind of $$$. Prefer cheap eats.

We came on a Monday, not that many people, so we got a pretty good seat. $129 per person, not too bad given the good location looking over the river. Food is ok, the sashimi cut is a bit too thick. The sushi is made on the spot at your request, this is nice, except there is only one person working the sushi bar, I didn’t ask for sushi because it’d probably take too long and there is quite a line behind me. I had two pieces of lobster tails, the first one is firm and succulent, the second one is not fresh and messy. The roast, fried noodles and Indian cuisine are surprising tasty, but I am very disappointed with desserts, none from the dessert section I would recommend, very limited ice cream and fruit options.Overall, a decent place, excellent location and good service, but a bit more work would be done on the Peking duck, sashimi/sushi bar and desserts. 5 star for place and service, 3 for the food.

Fab buffet breakfast. Highly recommend adding it to your stay. Great selection of fruits, juices and both sweet and savoury breakfast options including an omelette station and chocolate fountain.Keen to come back and try the seafood lunch/dinner buffet!

We wanted to do something special for my partner's birthday – We went for dinner and chose the 2nd seating on Saturday night (8.30 pm – 10 pm). Service was amazing (10/10)Live station foods were amazing (Chinese, pasta & Indian naan – I must say the naan has to be the best naan I have ever had), but other foods were very mediocre, nothing special. They only had 2 mocktail options, ambience was nice, but the furniture looked worn – I am sure the furniture looked great in early 2000 but not anymore.
