Really exceptional restaurant. Great service. Quality ingredients. Authentic style. It really makes a difference when the dumpling skins are hand made on premises and not the massed produced kind. I will be back.

Food was nothing special.I think getting kick out at the 1.5 hr mark when your food comes after waiting more than an hour is pretty disgraceful. We were keen on more food and dessert but there was no chance that was happening. Hearing you need to leave now" after only just starting to eat is not a good way to operate. Will not be going back. I suggest you don't bother either."

As a fan of Chinese cuisine, I was excited to try out the new restaurant in Yarraville. However, my experience was unfortunately underwhelming.The pan-fried dumplings were a disappointment, with a doughy texture that detracted from the filling. On the bright side, the fried chicken was a standout dish, with a satisfying crunch and a bold flavor that was likely due to the heavy use of MSG.The ambience and service were also lacking, with a decor that felt uninspired and a staff that seemed disinterested in their work.Overall, this restaurant falls short of the high standards set by the best Chinese eateries in Melbourne. While the fried chicken may be worth a try, there are likely better options for those seeking a truly memorable dining experience.

Tasty, well priced fresh food with timely service in a lovely relaxing spacious outdoor area under a canopy of trees. Waiter was very attentive and they were so accommodating and relaxed about us changing the booking time and adding another 2 to our party of 4.Only negative was the booking app which of course is used by many venues, but am not generally a fan of this method with a large group.But we are definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Food is great and tasty but the service killed the experience. The manager was really rude to us to the point she was raising her voice towards us.We were a group of 6 - part of our group arrived late. Even though we had some who arrived on time, we were constantly nagged about the rest of the group - which doesn't make sense as we got the table on time still.Worst yet, we requested to put an extra item after our first order. We were told we cannot order anymore as she needed the table back. We asked why this is the case when they haven't even served the food yet and we were only given 15 minutes to leave the table.While the food was good - it was truly terrible experience. I don't think I experienced restaurant staff raising their voice towards customers when they wanted to order food.

A very surprising place! I must admit, I did not expect much - thought it would be your typical expensive, westernised-asian food but I am gladly surprised to be proven wrong! The signature pork belly in the bao dish is great, their scallion noodles are great and so are their chilli dumplings. The staff are very friendly and the place looks great. There is also an outside garden area for a bit more of a chill vibe. It is a bit on the pricier side though compared to other asian places.

We regularly eat at Chi Bao - both dine-in and takeaway. Food is always good and reasonably priced. Dumplings are fresh, juicy and tasty. Menu is not huge but what they serve is tasty, of good quality and very good serving sizes. Service is attentive, friendly and quick. Great for a quick meal before wandering around the corner to The Sun Theatre. A perfect night out in The Village.

Great service, great atmosphere, ammaazzing food!!!Seriously delicious dumplings and noodle dishes. I can't believe I've lived in Yarraville 8 years and only recently discovered Chi Bao. What a travesty! I only have 8 years of dumpling-eating to make up!

The restaurant keeps on forgetting parts of the orders for home delivery. Takes them an hour to resend the items, rendering the food that’s supposed to be eaten with the missing items cold and inedible. Once or twice I can forgive but not consistently. You have lost a customer.Edit: received a refund for entire meal so I have changed the review from 1 stars to 3.
