We were first timers last night for Emerald Gardens. We took along a couple of friends from the UK, who are here holidaying here in AUS as we heard such amazing reviews.The food we could not fault, portion sizes were amazing we even took some home and such flavour. YUM!Customer service on the other hand is why I have given 3 stars, we hand to ask to order our food. Then when our starters came out we were asked if we wanted to order drink and they’ll come back to take the order. Someone else ended up coming.No table water, was offered.We then finished and waited for a staff member to clear our plates and bring the bill but never happened we had to ask again and for some take away containers.We ordered -- satay skewers- prawn toast- crispy duck pancakes- king do- combination laksa- combination chow mein- Koren spicy chicken (special menu)- fried riceSo delicious !

A very good experience with my family. Ambience was very good, decor was calm and cozy, service was excellent, food was really good. Nice choice of cutlery for serving and on table. I ordered Malaysian food and must say this is the closest to Malaysian cuisine that I have tasted so far in Australia. Not many Malaysian dishes though. Every dish was unique with flavor and texture and presentation. Portions very large and sufficient. All in my family enjoyed it. The price was another stunner. For the feel, quality of food, experience, and service it was definitely low.. Have paid much more for lousy food and quality elsewhere. Waiting to go again and try the other dishes. Surely one of my favourites in Newcastle.Surprised to know about this restaurant from my daughter because they went on a school business visit. They need more advertisement for people to enjoy the good food.

Very cosy atmosphere and our waiter was lovely. The Sesame Prawn Toast as appetiser was the best I've had for some time. For our mains my partner had the Honey and Pepper Beef and I had the Salt & Pepper Squid. My meal came out first and was delicious however my partners meal arrived 20 minutes after and while the flavour was on point, the beef was too chewy to eat to the point we left and had to buy my partner a meal elsewhere. I had been looking forward to having the Deep Fried Ice cream but didn't get there as the wait time combined with my partners meal not being edible put me off. First and last time for eating at this establishment.

Great Place , make sure you book a seat, because front of house has no idea to fill empty seats… Aussie chick and Asian guy at reception has no idea how to fill seats… lucky I had Josh when I came in 1 hour later to realise to make a seating for 1 and quick service .. thanks Josh, you should be front of house as well, great food , amazing interior - finally feel comfortable

Great place. Went there wirh colleagues last nigjht for the banquet. Food excellent, price reasonable and waitress / service outstanding. Looking forward to going back already.

The wait staff were amazing. Fresh ingredients, delicious sauces. The chefs did a fabulous job with the duck pancakes and Singapore crab. Absolutely gem of a restaurant for a night out! Well done!

We always enjoy our food at emerald gardens, we want to try other dishes but always order our favorites combination chow mein and salt and pepper squid. Friendly service.

Excellent food and service as always. We have favourite dishes and they are always guaranteed to have the same great flavour and freshness whether we dine early or late. Probably our favourite place to enjoy a lovely meal.
