Steve was excellent, the report he provides is highly detailed and helps you work out the current state of the building you are considering on buying. I have to say, given these difficult times to not be able to view places due to Covid lockdowns, Steve has made that process a hell of a lot easier. The report will cover every aspect of the building you can imagine, detailing areas of concern and photos to show what is going on if there is concern. Through out the whole process Steve has been an excellent communicator, breaking down the information he presents to a non-builder and giving tips on how to tackle things going forward if required. I am really happy with the help and information he is given and highly recommend his services. The pest report was also thorough and gave me confidence I needed in making some big decisions. Steve's house inspection report and ihis recommendations saved me a lot of money and heartache. Because of issues with the house I wanted to buy, after the report I cancelled my offer.Steve recommended I engage a Structural Engineer to check out elements of the home and it was the best advice. If Steve recommends that you do that, follow his guidance.

We used Steve twice for our pre-purchase inspections; the first for a lovely fully renovated home which we had bought that turned out to be a lemon. The property had such serious structural defects (the house floor was sinking) that it rendered our sales contract void. The second inspection was for the home we eventually purchased.Steve's reports are so detailed and thorough that every aspect of the building structure was inspected; they almost border on condition reports. His reports are full of photographs that clearly illustrate the problems encountered. He uses state-of-the-art measuring equipment to detect hidden but important flaws like moisture in the walls/subfloor and uneven floor levels that are not easy to see with the naked eye.I can understand why some vendors would be disappointed by Steve's reports, but ultimately he works for us buyers, and is there to protect us from buying defective properties. Personally, I would want my building inspector to be as diligent and strict as possible in assessing compliance to building standards. Buying a home is for most of us the biggest financial decision of our lives. There is no one else I'd rather use to ensure I have all the relevant information available to make an informed purchasing decision.Highly recommended.

Honestly, Steve did an amazing job for us. It was our first home purchase, so scary enough on it's own without double guessing our decisions, so having a building inspection was enormously helpful. He's local knowledge, having done an apprenticeship in the area and being a former builder gave us a great deal of confidence in his work.He has a work ethic second to none (seriously I wish we could find a working builder with similar work ethic!...). He did the inspection Friday morning, was in the hospital with his kid over the weekend and we still had the report in our by Monday 11am.Report was 63 pages with a solid few hundred photos and explanations for everything, plus a fair bit of assistance on the phone

We had done some research prior to buying online (always a tad scary) down in East Gippsland, specifically regarding building/pest inspectors.We ended up going with Steve and his business, thankfully, as two properties had some major deficiencies, ultimately saving us many thousands of dollars.We cannot applaud Steve enough, as his continual updates, honesty and integrity, rose to the surface like pure cream. As a new home buyer in the East Gippsland region the issues that would normally plague home buyers were very unknown to me. Mr ALSOP gave me a no BS estimate of issues and repair costs for the property I was purchasing, so I could make the best informed decision when purchasing.
