Hertz Car Rental - Williamtown Airport

Highly disappointed. Everytime I hire from this Hertz they upgrade you (which is good) but then charge excessive amounts for trivial damage" that they can not prove did not already exist on the car.They last charged me $1300 for this mark (see picture attached) on the car windscreen. I hired the car for one day

We were so lucky to have Rob looking after us after we landed in torrential rain on a seriously delayed flight with a 6 month old. Rob went above and beyond to get us sorted and gave us an upgrade to a much bigger 4WD to keep our family safe in the rain. He was an absolute legend. I don’t often write reviews, but his customer service and efforts definitely needed to be recognised. Thank you!

Picked up a hire car as my car was being fixed. People were lovely and the car was clean and new. Totally disappointed that I was not told that I would be charged to pick up from this HERTZ. Was told they would take a $100 bond, but was never told of the $65 fee they would keep. Not impressed.

Beware of bait advertising, deceptive conduct and price gouging at Williamstown Airport Hertz/Thrifty. On arrival I was asked the usual questions about insurance excess reduction and pre-purchase of fuel. I flatly rejected the pre-purchase of fuel which adds additional costs. Since, looking over my unsigned copy of my agreement the fuel repurchase was added as an anticipated final charge although I flatly rejected it at point of pick up.I have since returned to Brisbane and did not receive an invoice at point of drop off, but was hurried on my way by the male staff member. At keys and car drop off, I was asked if I had returned the vehicle with a full fuel tank, which I confirmed. However, the invoice charged me an additional $80.05 for fuel. Jackie who I spoke with this morning asserted she had proof that I returned the vehicle half-empty with photographic evidence the fuel gauge was at half. I then provided a proof of fuel purchase including the petrol service operator just 2 klms away from the airport. I was told Hertz would reassess my claim and it would take 7 days to review their false claims.What I find concerning is that the Hertz story to validate the charge initially changed from the assertion of my agreement to pre-purchase fuel charge to now claiming to hold evidence of returning the vehicle half empty. It is implausible that Hyundai i30 used 25 litres of fuel of its 50 litre max capacity to go less than 2klm to get to the airport to drop off the car.My warning to future hirers is beware of this dishonest franchisee who will vigorously defend false claims. They make shonky car hire companies look like angels.Check all documentation at point of pick up and drop off. Take photographs of the speedometer, fuel gauge, the vehicle and retain all fuel receipts. Check your paper work before exiting the airport and demand to have the final invoice before departing. Check all charges before exiting the office.This business is plain and simply dishonest from the top down. They will make false claims to charge unwarranted fees and price gouge. Jackie who spoke with me from the airport outlet strongly defended so-called evidence, tried to defer additional charges as airport and seemed unwilling to back down on her assertions, despite my taking notes of our conversation. But, when I sent my proof of fuel purchase claimed to have no knowledge of how such a mix up could occur. Be prepared for unfair pricing and false claims and strongly exercise your consumer rights to report any dishonest practices to a NSW Fair Trading.As a car renter for several decades I've not experienced the level of deceptive and misleading conduct of this magnitude from this franchisee - so for the sake of your sanity hirer beware.

Branch manager was extremely inflexible and unwilling to accommodate our slightly unusual circumstances regarding living abroad for work yet using British license and credit card. Not the best welcome home to find we have to pay triple for a last minute hire car with competitor.

Worst experience I have ever had!! An already paid car online could not be picked up on my arrival as I did not have a physical card on me… I had virtual card details , bsb n acc details and the staff just laughed and said they could not help me. Head office also had no solutions. Hertz ran me late to my grandmothers funeral for their immature and useless staff

We rented for a work trip as we do usually, this time we were charged for damage we didn't do! Be careful and don't get scammed like we did. Our pre rental pics" were dated back almost a year prior to us renting the vehicle. Since the day our card was charged an excessive amount

We had a great experience with hertz at Newcastle airport. We had booked a mystery car and we’re very happy with our vehicle. After a bit of chatting to the staff, we were upgraded again. We ended up with a new hybrid Camry with only 8000km on it. It was lovely to drive. It was easy to collect and return the car - we will use hertz again and will be taking chances again with mystery vehicles !!

I love the Q5 but must book. Walk ups get charged the most and I had to wait 40 minutes before getting a car. She had to call central reservation. Strange how they don't have a competent computer system that can talk to everyone and see what cars are available. I know school holidays are a busy time but I'm a loyal 5 star gold member. Avis across the floor had heaps of cars
