Villa Serena Aged Care

I started my position here at Villa Serena a little over 7 months ago and it has been such a welcoming an amazing experience. The Staff, Residents, Families and Home are nothing short of incredible. I wasnt aware of an Aged Care Home with such a beautiful standard.

Agency nurses can’t read charts. They told me I couldn’t see my grandma because she wasn’t sick enough, she wasn’t close enough to dying to warrant me entering the property. She died less than 48 hours later. I never got to say goodbye because of their incompetence. The general manager said that it was a ‘good learning experience’ for them, but them learning will never give me a chance to say goodbye to my grandma.

My mum who has dementia has moved in to VillaSerena...Could not be happier from the Manager Maree who is excellent to receptionist staff Paula Kystal who always make you welcome..and the rest off the staff who look after my mum there always willing to discuss with me about her I'm. very happy chose Villa Serena it is absoutuley beautiful inside and out...

I recently toured this beautiful facility it was such a big discussion when moving my mum into age care. Maree the manager made everything so simple as we could not under stand the fees and charges due to how complex they are, she took the time to explain it all and made us feel at ease with the whole situation. My mum is now living here and I can’t speak highly enough about villa Serena. If you are looking for a caring age care home I suggest visiting villa Serena.

The staff at Villa Serena were wonderful welcoming and settling our family member into the facility. Nothing was (or is) too much trouble. The office staff are amazing and very helpful. The nurses and carers are very capable and caring. I would highly recommend Villa Serena

The team at Villa Serena are awesome and we're so lucky to have been able to get mum into their care.We first contacted the GM Maree when we were desperate to place mum into respite prior to seeking a permanent placement. We'd temporarily placed mum in another 'supposedly 5 star' aged care facility in Merrimac, where her treatment was appalling and we had to take her out of the there. From what we have experienced, there are big variations in the standard of care delivery for these most vulnerable members of our community.Maree was amazing. She actively worked with us to find the best accommodation for mum which ultimately ended up being in Viletta, the dementia ward. Anyone who has a relative suffering from this terrible disease will know how hard it can be to work with them when you're transitioning them out of their home because they can no longer safely reside there.All of the nurses, carers and support staff have been wonderful to mum. She has settled well into Villa Serena, has a routine and I'm sure the many interactions she has with the team help her maintain her social skills. It's wonderful for my brother and I to come in some days and get glimpses of the mum we used to know. I'm sure that this would not be the case if the Villa Serena team did not constantly focus on their clients wellbeing. In the first aged care facility we placed her in she was neglected and there was little interaction - in Villa Serena, there is a constant stream of staff members on hand to see to the residents needs.Our sincere thanks to Maree and the team for taking such wonderful care of mum - it wasn't an easy decision to place mum into care. Thank god that places like Villa Serena exist to give you the confidence that your loved one is being cared for with compassion and dignity.

We recently had to move my father into dementia care, which was an incredibly hard decision to make. We initially placed him in what was rated as a very good nursing home in Merrimac, where he (and we as his family) were treated appallingly. It was as if they had no understanding of dementia care patients and how to manage them. In desperation, we rang many nursing homes to find somewhere nice for dad to be placed and just happened to be lucky enough for Maree, the Manager of Villa Serena, to offer dad a place. She and the whole Villa Serena team have been just fabulous. Maree personally helped move dad into his room and helped hang his pictures up for him! They are so caring and really know how to manage the residents with care, respect and love, no matter how difficult the situation is. They are just fantastic and dad is settling in well. He has a beautiful room opening onto a lovely garden, and even has a garden bed which he now considers as “his” that he looks after. He is loving the meals and the activities and is very contented and happy there, which is such a relief for us. I highly recommend Villa Serena on all fronts!

My mother originally came to Villa Serena for a respite stay in August 2013 following the death of her husband earlier that year.This stay was so good that Mum elected to remain as a permanent resident and has been in Palazzino since that time.She has enjoyed her life as a resident of Villa Serena with its high standards of nursing and personal care, the myriad of activities available throughout the year and the ease of access for family and friends to come and visit at any time. She often describes Villa Serena as the 'best home' she has ever had and after having some 13 different homes during her life we have no reason to doubt her!Towards the end of last year (2017) Mum became generally unwell (loss of appetite and weight, general malaise and a loss of interest in most activities) and we became concerned that this may have been a prelude to her slipping away.However all of the staff at Villa Serena were excellent in letting us know what was happening with her and attending to her needs. Indeed the care she received was such that we believe that this helped her to recover and regain her zest for life which is where she is again today.We are grateful for the services and care provided to Mum as a resident of Villa Serena and wouldn't want her to be anywhere else!Thank you!!The Ruge Family
