Not a good experience preparation of food was poor. For vegetarian food requested, chicken was added. The meal was replaced with a very rushed in preparation, could not eat it all.

We booked in for dinner at 7pm and arrived sharp at 7. We ordered our meal soon after and had to wait an 1hr and 15 mins to get our meal. The service was extremely poor. The staff didn’t even apologise for the long wait. If we only read the reviews, we would not have booked. The service has not changed at all since the initial reviews. I suppose the management doesn’t care. I will not visit this place again

Waited 40 mins for our food to arrive (great taste and takeaway containers were available), the lemon lime and bitters were watered down when we got a second set of drinks, the place seems to attract locals and people who are staying at nearby motels albeit a fair amount with screaming kids or adults who play loud videos while eating their meals, if you're looking for a drink (e.g whisky) you'll have to pay the price of a bottle for a shot glass amount

Got a very nice Surf & Turf was $48 so a bit on the steep side but I did enjoy it. Was a takeaway meal. The young one at the bar is some what rude.

The meals were very large, and really good. Large menu with lot's of options and a large bar selection also. We liked the look of the dessert options, but everyone was too full after the mains alone. The decor is basic, but perfectly fine. If you're looking for a good affordable meal in Queenstown this is a solid option.

I'd been staying in queenstown fairly frequently and felt like a change from the regular pub meal and gave Smelters a look.Early in the week it was more or less the only option open for a meal, but was glad I went. They got us in without a booking and the dining room had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food was as good as any pub meal and could not complain for the price or service. I'll definitely be recommending to others.

Average, more like 2.5 than 3 stars. We had pork spare ribs, taste ok but pretty small once you remove fat, they came with a glue-style fried rice and unmemorable fries, not that cheap all considered ($31).We also had garlic bread, which didn’t taste of much (we preferred the one you buy at the supermarket).Suggestion to management: the illumination of the restaurant shows little care, pick one colour of bulbs and stick to that instead of randomly mixing cold and warm lights. Btw warm light preferred unless you want to look like a construction site canteen

The building is a mid century marvel. Also it has a magnificent fireplace, in the style perhaps of an old smelter. The food is great value, with big servings. The service is friendly and they even have one of my favourite zero beers, Great Northern.
