We went here when we were on holidays in Wagga. The staff were very accommodating to my wife's coeliac requirements. Good coffee and good food. They also have an indoor kids play area in their back room.

Staff were really lovely and doing their best considering they were short staffed. Meals came out in record time. Hot, fresh and well presented. Not as a criticism instead just a suggestion, perhaps is there a way to cook your bacon with less oil? We found the shaved bacon we received in our meals to have a lot of excess oil, a little more than usual. We’re unsure of if this is because it’s shaved vs just sliced. The other thing I just wanted to make suggestion on is having water ready for customers even if they have to go get it. We had to go get our water jug and cups (which was fine) but I had to fill it up myself. I was a bit unsure on if I was doing the right thing by doing this.Overall the meals were lovely and the atmosphere and staff were too. I would go back again next time I’m in Wagga. It’s just those couple of small things I recommend.

A pleasant place to come for lunch. My husband and son couldn't finish the burger and chips. Both enjoyed them. I had the Mediterranean salad which was tasty. This venue holds a liquor licence too, so beer/wine or tea/coffee with lunch. A nice make over of what used to be the Johnny Mac pub.

While visiting Wagga, we enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back for breakfast! They make their own brioche rolls and can recommend their burgers and bacon and egg rolls! Fresh orange juice was also delicious! Very friendly staff.

Nice convenient location on the main street of Wagga. There isn't too much positive to say about the food, unfortunately it was mediocre at best. The toast on all 3 plates was over done. The eggs were over done. Nothing terrible, but not great either. The milk shakes were ok, but very sweet. The table we sat at we noticed was extremely sticky and hadn't been cleaned sufficiently. There is plenty of seating and a kids play area.

Melbas never fails to deliver! Great food with lots of options for breakfast and lunch. Staff are friendly and obliging and nothing is ever too much trouble. Excellent coffee, made just the way I like it. A favourite cafe of mine

So disappointed. Have eaten here before so came back but not sure if I would again. Tables were so sticky which is probably from the old varnish but it was horrible. It was 1pm on a week day but was told only pre-made paninis were available. Could understand if it was closer to closing time. The panini looked terrible when it arrived with all the ingredients falling out. Got my meal and was about 5 minutes later my husbands meal arrived. Should serve the table together. Walking past the kitchen on the way out and the floor was filthy.

The mashed avocado I have with my eggs Benedict was not the freshest but still quite good and the serving was of a generous size. Also it was good to find so good that early in the morning.

Set on the main drag in Wagga Wagga’s busy shopping district, Melbas Bakery and Eatery Wagga was recommended to us by a local. Walking into the cafeteria-like interior, I had my doubts. How could mass-produced breakfast at this level have the artisan touches I crave? I settled in with a decent cappuccino ($4.50) made on their house-roasted Green Bean Coffee and prepared to choke on my assumptions.Topped with more bacon than seemed proper, the house-made waffle ($16) was the fluffiest American waffle I’ve encountered since Las Vegas. Dripping in (real) maple syrup with oozing pats of Pepe Saya butter, this plate conquered me (but I gave it a really good bash).Continuing the Americana theme, Memphis Boston beans ($18) threaded pulled smoked pork butt though chipotle beans in the best rendition of this dish I’ve eaten. It’s served with poached eggs and house-made sourdough, and cleverly garnished with lemon and pickled onions to aid digestion (it’s another big serve of food). We’d added on some chilli sauce that looked like an insipid faintly pink mayo. so we slathered it on, only to be thoroughly spanked for our assumptions.Don’t judge books by their covers was clearly the lesson of the day. Recommended!Edit 11/11/20: It’s super rare for me to revisit a spot when I’m travelling somewhere new, but I broke that rule for Melba’s. This means I’ve now tried all four items on their short breakfast menu, including this well-balanced breakfast wrap ($15). Avoiding the usual issues, it wasn’t too wet, with quality baby spinach keeping a bit of crunch against cheese, bacon, fried eggs, onion relish, chipotle aioli and a hashbrown. Served open, the brekky sandwich ($12) normally is a vegetable-leaning affair with mushrooms, onion, tomatoes, American cheese, a fried egg and Hollandaise. My dining companion got bacon and hashbrown envy so opted to customise, to good effect. This time I ordered my coffee ($4.50) strong and found it much better to drink. I reckon I ripped Melba’s off half a star when I only awarded them 4.5 stars last time ‘round... better fix that now!
