This was an easy trip of just over 3 hours from inner Sydney via the Bucketts Way and a stopover at the Historic Stroud Village and a return via the picturesque Dungog route. For our group of 4 couples, it was our first stay in the new Homestead and it did not disappoint as this is a high quality residence with loads of indoor and outdoor entertaining space, excellent European cooking appliances, outdoor BBQ, ducted air conditioning and under cover car parking. There are several large TV screens throughout where guests can choose different TV programs as well as free Starlink WiFi for mobiles and devices. The days during our stay were quite hot (low 30’s) but some of us ventured down to the rock pools in the Karuah River just below the house to cool off, whilst the others stayed and enjoyed the luxury of the air conditioning. We enjoyed one of the two Master Suites with a magnificent view of the Valley without getting out of bed! This is a very secluded and relaxing farm location at Riverwood Downs, looking up the valley to the Barrington Tops from the bedrooms and entertaining areas. All you could ask for, for a great weekend with good friends. Next time we will bring our extended family and the dogs.

Best pet friendly place I have ever stayed at!! The staff are so lovely and attentive, grounds are immaculate and well kept. So good that the dogs were allowed almost everywhere with me (even in the pool area!) as I was a solo traveller. Food was yummy (they even have a dog menu which my dogs thoroughly enjoyed). Bush walking tracks, canoes to hire for a fee (which were a bit awkward to steer by myself so that didn’t last long haha) and rock pools to cool off in which the dogs can swim in too. It had such a quiet atmosphere as well, I’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic location, well looked after property with plenty of space for caravanning & campers. Amenities & are good, plenty to keep the kids occupied as well. We stayed in a park cabin which was pretty good, Restaurant was excellent. Bit of a rough road in ti the property.

Site is really beautiful and service from the staff was good. They are really dog friendly which is great for people who love to travel/holiday with their dogs. Only issues we had was our friends due to arrive the day before and being given details of our site only to be told the next day that wasn't the right site so they had to pack up and move one site over. I think the staff member who came up on the second day might not have realised we were all part of the same group. We don't recommend travelling to far down the river past the rocks on a kayak/canoe as it's very hard to come back up. My dog got tangled in some barb wire (lucky no damage) walking back along the bank after we couldn't kayak back up the rocks.

Incredibly beautiful setting for camping. Plenty of space to spread out. Safe river for swimming. Great amenities, fires allowed and the best part is you can take your dog!

Lovely location but not much to do apart from bush walks in winter which is weather dependant. Long grated dirt road to get to property..Intermittent service. Stayed in cabin which is basic. Needs some upkeep..Great dinners but expensive. Nice reception staff.

We camped at Riverwood Downs and once again it is a great spot, well run, clean and we'll kept. Large flat tent sites with plenty of facilities nearby. For those who love to get away, there is very little phone signal in the valley (suits me to turn my phone off for the long weekend).Fishing can be ok, if you are good (I'm not).but I still tried plenty of times.Swimming or relaxing in the river is great fun, bring inflatables so you (or the kids) can float down the rapids.Good location if you want to explore nearby Dungog or Gloucester and the Barrington Tops National Park.We will be back to this spot.Love it.

Gorgeous location - camping was really nice with rolling hills all around and next to a river. Also the amenities were good - at least 8-10 shower cubicles, a Kiosk that serves takeaway, a restaurant, games area and more that we didn't explore (spa, massage, horseriding, platypuses in a specific creek at sunset)Would definitely come back for a longer stay
