Barbecue Mafia

Great food, we only waited half an hour or so and did manage to get a table peak hour Saturday night. Only thing I would say is you can tell they’re really trying to stretch their brisket. Lots of sides. Not enough brisket. For money spent vs brisket eaten I’d actually just go to Bare Knuckles bbq instead, heaps better value. Tacos are good though!

Can't rate the food because we never got it! Waited almost 90mins after ordering only to be told they had run out. Then had to go find somewhere else to buy food at 8.30pm. Dumb way to lose business.

After making a reservation at the Mafia’s pop-up at the Sandgate Bowls Club for 7:00, my partner & I showed up 20 minutes early to have a drink before dinner. When we arrived, we placed our food order, thinking it would be busy and might take a while to get our food. We were told before ordering that it would be an hour wait for food. No problem. We ordered and grabbed a couple of beers. No tables were available for us despite the fact that we’d made a reservation. We waited around for a few minutes until a table was vacated. No one to be found to actually clean the table for us, so we cleaned it ourselves with napkins and hand sanitiser. An hour and a half later, I went to enquire about our order, only to be told that the kitchen had run out of food and they had nothing to give us (or another dozen or so customers that were waiting, still oblivious to the fact that they were going to miss out as well). They didn’t bother to tell us when exactly they were going to tell us the bad news. Staff at the front were friendly enough and offered a refund which we took because we still needed to find someplace to eat dinner at 8:30pm in Sandgate. I’ve heard great things about the Mafia’s food, but I cannot imagine that it is nearly good enough to be put through the experience of dealing with their utter incompetence at running a kitchen much less a hospitality business. If you’re thinking of giving them a try, I would advise you don’t bother. It can never be such great food to make up for appalling service and utter inability to do the most basic things that one would expect from a food service business. That’s what you get for trying to support a local business in Brisbane - the all too familiar experience of sub par service and inability to do anything right in hospitality.

Picture this: THREE thick, tender slices of smoked beef brisket, American cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles - sound delicious? BECAUSE IT IS! If you haven't been to a BM pop up, run.. don't walk, to their next event - there's plenty going on in and around Brisbane! If you're thinking about who's going to cater your next event.. I highly recommend the Barbecue Mafia boys - genuine and put 110% in to what they know and love!

I ordered a platter for 2 which listed a whole selections of meats to try along with fresh bread rolls and coleslaw and mac and cheese and upon opening the box after waiting 45 minutes for my order, I received a pile of shredded meats and sausage shoved to one corner of the box, I couldn't tell what was what it was all mixed together! The bread rolls were nice and soft though. I honestly expected so much better especially considering I payed $70 for the platter for 2, It definitely didn't look like $70 worth of food. Was pretty disappointed as I have been following their instagram for a while and have always seen them post amazing pictures of their food.

BBQ mafia deliver on their promise of delicious food and great portions for the price of what you get. The boys explained everything they were doing and it meant for a fascinating lesson in slow n low bbq'ing!Lovely and friendly staff. Busy night when we went to their pop up at Republic and they accommodated our table of 8 by setting another table and all we had to do was wait for 5 minutes.I didn't realise this event was going to be so busy but now I can understand with the food being so delicious and mouth watering and the service being so great! Make sure to make a booking when you go there.

I was finally able to go and try your food today. Spent $148.. disappointed that most of my food was cold and bread rolls were stale. It wasn't busy.

Partner and I booked a table for 7 o clock at the Sandgate Bowls club last night and were super excited for the food. It looked busy so we ordered our food straight away and were told there would be a wait. We were more than okay with this and sat down for some drinks. The environment was very intense as a lot of the patrons that were already there were very frustrated. We soon understood why. We joined the many that waited over an hour (some even 1.5 hours) for food. It got to the point where they brought out one order every ten minutes and people would actually cheer. It was at 1 hour and 15 minutes that we were told they had run out of food and gave us a refund. I feel so bad for the front house staff as they copped a lot of peoples frustrations. We just didn’t understand how a place open from 5-8 (kitchen closed at 7.30) could get so far behind especially when most of their meat would’ve been precooked/cooking all day. We would’ve preferred to be turned away at 7 (despite the booking) then to wait around for all that time and then be told. It was 8.30 and all other restaurants had stopped serving. The most heart breaking was a sweet old couple near us that waited longer than we did only to be told they missed out as well. Whilst a refund is nice, I think the business owners really should’ve stepped up and given out vouchers or something to try and salvage their business. That was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had and I’m sure this is the same as everyone that was there last night.

I've eaten here once or twice before and the food and atmosphere was great! Friendly staff and good vibes. Definitely 5 stars if I left 4 stars last time it was a mistake lol
