Elodie McKenzie was the latest property manager of our investment property. There were some instances where I was dissatisfied with her management.First of all, the maintenance hadn’t been done in very long time after I approved. When the property was under Elodie’s management, I approved a maintenance online in October 2021 and trusted she had handled the situation. However, in June 2022, another staff member contacted me to request the same approval. After I forwarded the email conversations with Elodie to her, she checked from their portal and found out the approval hadn’t fed through to the trader.The second incident was I hadn’t been informed the correct information of re-lease.On August 1st 2022, when Elodie supplied me with the new tenant applications, I approved a new lease to start from the 26th of August, 2022.Later in our email conversation regarding the repairs after the old tenant moved out, Elodie said: “We will just need this to be completed and keys returned by close of business on the 24th so we can conduct our ingoing inspection for the new tenancy on the morning of 25/8/22”.All these made me believed the lease started from 26/8/22. So, when the old tenant moved out on the 22nd of August, we were in quite the rush to inspect the property and couldn’t get all the maintenance on the list done by ourselves in two days.But later I discovered the lease had actually started from 2/9/22. I do not know why the information Elodie provided me did not match the actual lease start date, nor do I know if or when the lease start date may have changed or if it was always in September, but I do know that Elodie failed to communicate this to me.The third incident was regarding the repair, we got nothing from Elodie except frustration and anxiety when we experienced financial hardship and would like to get an affordable quote to repair the laundry.In August 2022, we initially approved a quote of renovating the whole laundry which above $11000. We paid the deposit but since the builder couldn’t commence work as scheduled, he refunded the deposit. Due to these delays, we could no longer afford the renovation because of financial complications. We explained the situation to Elodie to see if there were any other affordable options to resolve the issue. She insisted that the only solution was to renovate whole laundry room as per the previous quote she forwarded. As we really could not afford the complete renovation, we decided to consult another agent and another tradesman to get a second opinion. In October, in the onsite inspection with the new tradesman, he suggested an alternative solution to the issue, which was much more affordable for us. It really seems to us that complete renovation was not the ONLY solution, as Elodie would have us believe.All in all, our experience with Elodie has not been satisfactory, and we cannot recommend her services to anyone, NEVER.
