Chandler walking track

This is one of the two walks you can do from Wollomombi Falls picnic area and if you plan to do both I suggest this one first because it’s the hardest.There are three viewing points on the track. The first one is the very accessible main platform, only 200 metres along the track that just about anyone could access. Great views here.About another 800 metres in, and a relatively easy walk is Checks Viewpoint, that is also worth the effort and gives a good different perspective on the gorge.It’s then about 1k further to the end of the track and Chandlers look out. The first 400 metres of that part of the track is still ok, but then you get a sign saying it’s about to get steep and experienced walkers only.They are not kidding. It’s 600 metres to the lookout and my iPhone told me that in that 600 metres you drop in elevation by about 120 metres. Lots of switchbacks and a relatively narrow track (well defined though) that is a bit like a goat track.At the end there is a good view, but I am in two minds about whether it is worth the effort to get there given similar views are available earlier on the track.I am glad I did it, I would not bother to do it again and the Wollomombi track gives you a much better return in terms of views for the effort that you put in.I
