Looked after my mother and were terrific

Went to see our friend. Told we could no longer take him out. Punishment from his daughters for daring to question why he still resides there. Was supposed to be temporary, at the request of his wife a resident at the nursing home, who passed away Jan this year, complications from a neglected gangrene toe. Entered reception, took 10 mins to find him, was aimlessly wandering the corridors in a top riddled with stitched up holes, cargo pants that he had to hold up with one hand to stop falling down, due to weight loss. He asked where are we going. Nowhere unfortunately, your daughters are not allowing anyone to take you out. I’m in jail, was his response. I want to go out for a coffee, l’ll go ask the staff member . I want to go out with my friends for a cup of coffee. No you can’t. Why not. Your daughters said only they can take you out no one else I’m in jail. We told the un caring staff member this is a violation of his rights, you can’t do this in Australia. Her response, ring his daughters. We did and so did our friend on our phone, as our friends phone was taken off him as well as his hearing aids, leaving multiple messages with no response. The staff member rang the daughter after we left. Daughter sent text message saying we can no longer visit him. Rang our friend to say that we are unable to see him. He was in disbelief, how can they do this. He did not give his consent to remain there, he is being forced against his will. Yackandandah Health you need to read the Charter of Aged Care Rights again No. 7,8,9 & 10. I know there is an adjoining Child Care Facility next to you, perhaps you are confused. He is an Adult, not a child. This is elder abuse.
