Cardwell Park Rest Area

If you want to enjoy sun shine at the beach but on green grass and a pool near by special for childern. This is the right place for you guys . This area is surrounded by many good hotels and restaurants as well .

Nice beach side town, great spot to take a break with cafes and eateries on the main street through town, good parking and picnic areas along the esplanade, views to Hinchinbrook Island, the jetty is a spot to have a fish, the rest area on the southern end of town is good and clean. Walk along the esplanade and soak up the sea air and views.

Relaxing food shops near bye, enjoy view of island

Read the notice. Don't go near the water and stay off the beach. There really are crocodiles there and people have been hurt by them at that location. Google it!! Pretty area with excellent food stalls though. Nice lady who sells coffee.

Really good spot for a break from the road or for a picnic. Soft grass, shady trees, picnic shelters and tables, access to the beach and great views of Hinchinbrook. Plenty of parking spaces that would fit a 7m RV. Plus a couple of long parks for caravan/trailer. As well, there is a mobile coffee van, a food and a pie van. Toilets are being refurbished but temporary portaloos are provided. There is a paved walking path following the shoreline with interesting storyboards. A credit to the council & community.

Great spot to have to have a stop and rest. Good views of Hinchinbrook. Toilet facilities near by were clean and tidy. Plenty of parking. Plenty of Beach access. A food van and coffee van were there the day I visited. Bbqs near by.

Cardwell Park Rest Area is a duplicitous stopover. On one hand it boasts beauty with all the tropical palm trees edging the cool blue water that laps the shore, and a gentle breeze that is cooling under the shade of the many trees. And yet, there are Crocs in the waters with warning signs displayed in various languages, vinegars for the jellyfish stings, and on land at the picnic tables & on the trees are red ants that bite. But, it does have toilets, food vans and plenty of parking, including parking for caravaners. It is a lovely spot but just be careful during your time there. Don't forget, up the street further are various food shops for the hungry travellers.

Caswell is nice, this park is no exception, Lovely views onto the sea & the islands, plenty of shade and wide beach to keep you clear of the crocs..
