Transcontinental Hotel

Great little country pub. Had lunch out in the beer garden with our dog. Good service and prices.

The staff at the bar were lovely and the hotel itself has a nice vibe. The have a big selection of gins. It was very busy, in fact the dining room was booked out. However, the 2 and half hour wait (after ordering at 6:15pm) for a steak and a schnitzel is beyond ridiculous. Everyone was in the same boat. I don't think anyone got their meal under 2 hours after ordering. Management need to make a call to turn people away or ensure the kitchen is well-prepared. Staff continued to take food orders at the bar when the kitchen was already overrun. A number of tables cancelled their food orders after waiting 2 hours and being told that the kitchen hadn't started to cook their food yet. Once we got our meals they were quite nice pub fare although the roast potatoes were missing from the steak order.

Came on schnitzel night. Over 1.5 hour wait for food. Chips came out Luke warm and beef schnitzel was chewy and not worth the price.Come on guys, be better!

I do NOT recommend this place. Pub looked fine (they even seemed to have some vegan options when I quickly looked at their menu), but the so called hotel was under all criticism. $90 for one night and the bedroom was tiny and looked like a basement/prison cell with cobweb everywhere, broken furniture, awful bed, a crack in the wall right through to the outside and stained bedsheets. Bathrooms are communal. This looked worse than all hostels I've stayed at for far less money. A good note though was that we got all our money back, when we 5 minutes after check in went back down to the front desk and asked to cancel our reservation and get a refund.

Great place for a pub meal for lunch. Reasonable price. I had the half serve chicken strip's.

My partner and I travelled up on the Afghan Express from Port Augusta to Quorn, had booked a table for lunch before we our return trip. We found the service was slow, but with the number of people the hotel staff were serving, it was understandable.The meal was fantastic with a couple of alcohol beverages (not driving) we can not complain, great business, certainly recommend the Transcontinental Hotel, any traveller should stop in

Unfortunately it's sad to give this place a low grade but tonight I went there with my family for my dads birthday waited over an hour for our food while others after us got theirs didn't get much info about why it wasn't coming out eventually decided it was better to get it take away then got home and realised we had stuff missing. Was pretty disappointed.

Booked a table for 3 in dining room. Sat out in punter's room. No info as to how they work. They were busy but slow to serve. The food was good. The salad a salad not 4 pieces of lettuce full stop. Very happy with the meal. Prices were good.
