Whitworths Marine & Leisure - Breakfast Creek

Not small dog friendly, even if you carry them. I attended the store on Christmas Eve to be told they are not dog-friendly, for which I asked if I could carry my dog (he is only 6kg and tiny) to which they said the head office won't allow any dogs even if you carry them. As I couldn’t leave him locked in the car in the heat, I had no other choice but to leave. I have been several times to the same store in the past with my dog however they decided to enforce the rule on Christmas Eve. I have spent a small fortune at Whitworths after discovering it 4 months ago and will never spend a cent with them again. I can't blame the staff as they seemed genuinely sorry and polite however Whitworths management should take a long hard look at how antiquated their policies are.

I'm exempt from wearing a mask, as per qld covid 19 regulations I went into the store for the first time to buy a quite abit of boating gear as I'm rebuilding my boat and I was rudely asked can I ask where you mask is" I explained politely that I was exempt from this given previous situation I've been in

Decent range, variable stock levels. Staff helpful when asked, but don't tend to offer assistance while shopping/searching

I visited them mid Feb 2022 re a small bilge pump purchased from them in 2015 having stopped working and could they test it. The pump was connected to a cigarette lighter which plugged into a 12volt adapter that to use plugs into the mains. The set up was for pumping out a wet / dry vacuum cleaner used for removing water from a drain in extremely heavy rain. The young staff members could not understand it at all, they called the owner. He said you can only test the pump by cutting the wires to the cigarette lighter and attaching them to a battery. Which he proceeded to do. No it’s dead he said, so I bought a new one. It turned out when getting a new cigarette lighter attached to the new pump and asking to do the same with the old one that it was just a blown fuse in the cigarette lighter. I had asked the owner where a fuse would be as it’s mentioned in the instructions, he had no idea. Obviously even in a boat setup there is a fuse inline to prevent damage to the boat / pump. Absolute fraud, knew nothing, even that the pump will only work in water above a specific line on the pump, never from just a battery connection.
