SGIO Insurance

Do not deal with this company unless you are prepared to deal with an overseas call center ( waiting , waiting ). They used to be a very good local insurance company up to last year until they made the change to NRMA!

This company has slowly been turning to rubbish for a while now. Most of the time can never get through on the phone under 30mins and the person at the other end has generally been dismissive when i eventually do get to talk to someone. I have been with them for 24yrs and I love how after being a loyal customer of 24yrs you mention cancelling numerous policies, abd suddely they are so quick to help you do that...really??!!... poor form to treat customers as just money makers. So glad Im movng to a better company that still has local branches i can go into.

Although I switched insurance funds just recently and am no longer an SGIO customer, my experience with SGIO was positive.Claims were always prompt and usually accepted without an issue - inspection or repair done promptly every time.

Our policy increases without any warning. We have been quoted from another provider half of the price SGIO are charging. Called to cancel policy on hold for 35 minutes and finally when I thought I was about to speak with some one an automated voice message saying “we are having technical problems and can’t take your call. What a joke. They don’t even deserve one star.

Apparently doing system updates so I can't update my certificate of currency to refinance. Why aren't they done at midnight or the early hours like banks do? Common sense really.

I am beyond frustrated after trying to get my money for my fence that was blown down in August 2022. I have been given the run around and am unable to deal with anyone in Western Australia. Every stalling tactic is applied and I am still waiting on a confirmation email after phoning them 3 times. I have to phone them again and I am certain again and again. I have been with HBF for 20 years and now I was passed on to these rip offs. Disgusting!!!!!!

Most hopeless and infuriating company I have ever dealt with. Can't talk to anyone in Australia. Can't get ANY satisfactory answers.

The original great SGIO has disappeared. It's an empty shell of what it used to be and now is an NRMA subsidiary. I have spent 2 months trying to get a small payout for a fence. Still no payment. The online claim system is useless. They never update your claim. The telephone support is a waste of time. It's simply a call centre. Each time you ring they spend 5 mi s reviewing your claim while you are on hold. They do not allocate customer claims to consultants. You get whoever answers the phone . They do not refer to supervisors. They do not work on your claim unless you phone them! In between phone calls nothing happens. They call contractors during the day using private phone numbers and then wonder why contractors do not answer their phone call. The consultants themselves appear to have little knowledge of the products they are insuring. A number of times they tried to over or under pay me. I had to correct them. My brand loyalty of over twenty years means nothing. Do not access insurance policies through this company. I will be moving all remaining policies away from them. PS my neighbour had his fence payout within a week. I am still waiting....

Bloody pathetic! Can't get thru to them at all to make a claim. Tried phoning, emailing, webchat and even downloaded the useless mobile APP. Talk about stalling their customers. Been with this company for nealy 2 decades and nothing was ever smooth when making a claim apart from them taking my money ever year!!!
