Honestly, The Psychiatric unit here is incredible. The biggest change to my mental health was being in an inpatient unit that really values helping those struggling with mental health to get better. Previously, I always felt like that doctors, psychologists & support workers in Adelaide didn’t show genuine empathy about my struggles & that I was dismissed as just teenager with issues. The Whyalla psychiatric unit is amazing, I felt valued & was treated like I mattered & was respected. at that point, I’d been to a few in Adelaide that were nothing compared to them. Well worth the 6 hours of travel.5 years into my recovery from depression, anxiety & anorexia and on the 27th of March, I'll be 5 YEARS self harm free. ❤️

Son saw gp twice last week for suspected food poisoning. Much worse on Saturday so presented at emergency. The doctor on duty was the same doctor he saw during the week. This time the doctor didn't speak or examine my son whom is 18 years old. Doctor told nurse to send him home. Disgusting lack of service. Son had a bad night up.lots to toilet then early morning vomited. So sick ambulance was called and took him to hospital. Heart rate 140. Once at hospital doctors and nurses were fantastic and I give them a 4 star rating. Thank goodness for some caring professionals.

whyalla hospital is a disgraceful hospital that sends away support people for young scared mums (my sisters own mum) when she has EVERY RIGHT TO THE 2 SUPPORT PEOPLE!!!! Leaving my sister crying while in freaking labour..... the first lot of nurses completely ignoring her only getting attention when the adelaide uni nurses came in. how do we know this, watched the whole thing on facetime.... i bawled my eyes our watching such a disgraceful abuse of power!!!!! the trauma you have caused my sister in incomparable... i am disgusted and pray for all those involved to lose their jobs!

First time in emergency for mental health, they had police beating me while the doctors told my parents nothing's going on. I have been stuck in the mental health system since, 15 years on. They say I'm schizophrenic but never listen, most of their accusation and misdiagnosis stems from the fact I'm talking about their schools, their churches and their friends. So it is not a place to talk about truth as that will send you down a spiral. I also went to emergency, almost died and they did nothing, I now have part of my cheek lodged into my brain and Whyalla nurses, were saying that that I was on drugs and it's just a bump" without even touching the actual broken part

My husband went into Emergency department after getting bad chest pain, had to wait nearly 4 hours to get results of blood test, even though there was no diagnosis. He was given aspirin and a chest X-ray. The staff even got the residential address postcode wrong. Also lack of communication.

Unable to collect my grandmother, during non visiting hours. So nursing staff had to pack her bags for her. Instead of helping other patients. What a joke
