Nice walk to the bridge the view from underneath is beautiful however most of the walking track has been closed from the public for renovations so was unable to explore more which was a shame as it is a nice spot to walk.

A hidden gem at the foot of the blue mountains. An easy 1 hour round trip gives you views of the Sydney basin, and some sublime exposure to colonial train history. The walk includes the old Lapstone zigzag rail path, of which none of the tracks remain with exception of the dynamite blasted paths they used to follow. There's also the old Lapstone station. At the end, the grand Knapsack bridge, still standing in all its glory over 140 years later.Recommended short hike.

Pretty ordinary as tracks closed due to track works and trees grown up blocking views etc

An enjoyable walk with not many people around. First a quiet easy walk through the park on a paved road, then down the dirt tracks to underneath the viaduct. This is a good way to give our legs a good workout and workup a healthy sweat.

Great little walk across a beautiful bridge that was once both, a rail and road crossing. It's a great place for an easy walk with children and pets.

The steps are quite narrow and steep in parts. When you get down to the lower parts of the gully the bridge looks like it wasn’t built in 1867 but more recently. Quite a sight to see.

A great nature walk, very peaceful and good for families and walking the dog. Got some great shots on my main camera looking out over Penrith and also of the Knapsack Viaduct. You can go at your own pace and stop along the way for fantastic views.

An interesting structure to visit if you are passing by or in the area. Lots of little hikes and trails in the nearby and can walk down to the creek at the bottom for a great view from below.

The historic Lapstone Zig Zag Walk is an exciting bushwalking track in Glenbrook that follows an old railway. This railway was built and used in the second half of the 19th century. The walking track leads to the Knapsack Bridge, a huge sandstone arch viaduct which was built to carry the Zig Zag Railway line across the Knapsack Gully. It is an engineering masterpiece with easy access from the car park (10 min walk). From bridge to river is around 5 min but includes many steps.
