Great to see a piece of history. The blaze is still visable but the carvings are not. Go to the visitor centre to see a replica of the carvings

Dig tree located at Birdsville in the camp ground for the horse race along the banks of the Dimantina. Camp site basic with no ammenities but the scenery makes up for it.

Interesting site worth. A look.we drove in off the Main Street . I think a donation was required, the tree had a carving of a head in the fig tree when you look at it you can’t but help wonder how tough it was out here back in the day

Very poor display. You can barely read the information & it doesnt tell you anything about this tree. This is not the dig tree, this is Burke & Wills’ last camping spot before setting off to the dig tree but it doesnt tell you that. Lovely down by the Diamantina River & could be improved. Very sad the council doesnt spruce this area up.
