We recently had our 12 year old retaining walls inspected by engineers as part of the sale process for our house and they passed no problem. The work completed was solid and still is. I rang Kym yesterday to ask for a copy of the wall plans 12 years after they built them and she was only too happy to help. Scott was very helpful at the time of quoting making very valuable suggestions that we implemented into the design and have enjoyed for many years. We were originally going to terrace the back yard and he gave us a much better solution which meant our kids have had 12 years of playing in a well designed and fantastic back yard. Other landscapers just quoted on what we asked for. Thankfully we didn't go with them. I have often thought about that over the years so thank you for a job well done.

I just spoke to Scott about a water issue in my yard and I wanted to see how he could help with valuing the damage. Scott gave me a clear plan for the steps to take, and at this point not even requiring his services. Thanks Scott. Your advice was invaluable. I will recommend you to anyone.

Scott was prompt to contact me back, although I did have to leave quite a few messages once the deposit was paid to secure a date to start the work. I guess this may have been due to the weather making it hard to decide a date. All in all I was very happy with the finished job. Thanks Guys.

I wanted to build a large retaining wall and contacted Scott. Although he didn't want to inspect the property unles I pay a substanctial fee , I had a look at photos and told me I would waste my money, which I thought was very honest.

I had Scott's team concrete the patio area in my back yard, replace a damaged retaining wall across the back fence line and replace the fence.The retaining wall was built roughly half a metre in front of where it was supposed to be, which reduces the amount of useable space I have in my already small backyard. The concrete also doesn't seem to have cured properly, as it's already started to crack, is brittle in some parts with bits of the edges starting to break away, and it has a chalky finish.It just seemed like Scott was in a rush to get the job done and didn't care about the quality of the work. I was up north when the work was initially done so I only realised the extent of the problems when I came home a few weeks later. I brought up these issues when I saw the work in person, but Scott brushed off my concerns and bluntly made it clear he has no interest in rectifying the defective work.

I would like to direct this review to Scott and his team at Brisbane Structural Services.I met with Scott after passing a motion to have the driveway redone for a building complex of six in Paddington. The outcome and finished product was absolutely fantastic. People up and down the street have made comments on how good the driveway looks.Scott's professionalism, attention to detail and extremely approachable personality made the whole process of a full driveway replacement extremely easy.Scott and his team went above and beyond to make sure everything was tracking along well and was always there to answer any questions I had.The customer service I recieved from Scott was second to none. I couldn't recommend a more diligent bloke to deal with.I look forward to future dealings with Scott and his team at Brisbane Structural Services.They are exceptionally professional and boast an undeniably high level of skill in what they do. Brisbane Structural Service did an excellent job building a retaining wall in my backyard at the start of this year. Both Scott and Kym were lovely to deal with and very professional throughout the whole process. Great price and great service. Would highly recommend to others.

Brisbane Structural Services designed and constructed a 35m retaining wall for us at our Indooroopilly residence. From first contact and quote to design and construction they were absolutely professional. Their crew were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional at all times. Unexpected issues were resolved without fuss and all work was completed as per specifications and to a very high standard. Scott actively supervises and monitors the work of the crew which gives customers the confidence that the business owner is directly involved in the job. Scott was also very adept at working with neighbours which was very important given the scale of the job. We are absolutely delighted with them.

I had a complicated retaining wall job to complete in our backyard at Chapel Hill. There are multiple block walls and a part of it is built over a sewer line. Like many others on here, I contacted plenty of people who didn't want to or couldn't be bothered tackling a job this big and long. I called up and Scott called me back that day and we spoke at length on the phone. Scott came around and looked at the job and I was confident that he could complete it. The job had plenty of challenges and I changed the scope a couple of times (because I liked the work that was being done) and the result is an impressive and useful backyard. Visitors always comment on it. Scott doesn't just know bricks and planks, he gave some great advice on plantings as well.I read comments on here where people complain about the quality / spec not being met. My advice and my own experience is to spend the time at the start of the job explaining what you want AND PUT IT IN WRITING. Kym and Tina always respond to emails and it makes it easier for the customer and BSS to know what is expected. I won't sugar coat it, Scott and I disagreed on a few items throughout this $100,000 job, and I found him to be always fair and honest in the negotiations.No hesitation in recommending Brisbane Structural Service, Scott, Kym and Tina if you need decent retaining wall and landscaping work done. Walls have been up for 18 months and not even a hairline crack anywhere to be seen.

My experience with Brisbane Structural Service was disappointing. The first half of the job was good, but unfortunately things went wrong with the second half. The exposed aggregate driveway is underexposed, very patchy, and has a couple of areas where too much concrete has been washed away. The driveway was also done in batches, and there is a very noticeable difference in the colour and finish across the different batches (see photos). It was a poor job and there is no way of fixing the issue, other than ripping it up and starting again.Also, a key motivation for this work was to improve the drainage around the property. Unfortunately, the drainage was much worse after the work was initially done, with water pouring into our downstairs storage area whenever it rained. I provided Scott with information on the existing drainage which could have been used to avoid this issue, but he didn’t pass on this info to the guys onsite.Fixing the drainage was frustrating. There was no progress for months, with Scott initially denying there was an issue at all, and continually saying he would have answers ‘next week’. We finally agreed to a solution, which involved pulling up part of the concrete to reinstall a drain pipe that was removed. The agreement (in writing) was that this was at no additional cost. After Scott had dug up the concrete though, he changed his mind and said he required an additional payment to finish the work. There were no unforeseen circumstances and this was outside of our agreement. Nonetheless, Scott made it clear that he would leave the rectification work unfinished unless I made an additional payment. This left me with a choice between taking the issue to QBCC and having a hole in my driveway for an indefinite period of time, or paying the additional cost to just get the job done.There was also a large amount of concrete slag washed down the stormwater drain, which ended up setting in the pipe. We didn’t know that this was related to Scott’s work, so we had a plumber unblock the pipe. The plumber noted in his report that the blockage was caused by the concrete slag being washed into the drain and provided detailed photos to support his comments. Despite this, Scott denied responsibility and refused to cover any of the cost of the repair.Another suggestion is to pay close attention to the quote and contract. There were some things that didn’t make it on the original quote, but that we knew had to be done prior to the start of the project (e.g. uninstalling and moving the air-conditioning unit). We also had an invoice from a sub-contractor sent to us, without Scott seeking our approval for the additional work or even being told beforehand that the work would be done.One positive was the guys on site, who were hard working and easy to talk too. Nonetheless, Scott’s unprofessionalism and the issues with the drainage/driveway were disappointing, and more than offset any of the positive aspects of the work.
